Hi everybody.
What up Alf.My 2 cents:
I believe that African Americans can be compared to abused children who bedcome adults.
1st questions:
How many of you now children that were either: Molested, Raped, Physically Abused, or mentally abused?
Did they have problems adjusting to life at home?
School?
How did they respond to authority figures?
Experimented with drugs or participated in other "attention getting behavior"?
How many adults do you know that were:Molested, Raped, Physically Abused, or mentally abused as children?
Do they have problems adjusting to life at home?
At work?
Personal relationships?
Authority figures?
Experimented with drugs or participated in other "attention getting
behavior"?
geez...that just makes so much sense......?wth?
Now for some enlightenment.
What most people know but may not realize, or take for granted,
is that African slavery existed for 218 years (1400's) before it's institution.
Then lasted 246 years before it was abolished (1619-1865)
So, technically Black People have been "free" for only 142 years (1865-2007)
However, to be as "fair" as one can be with this, we should subtract 99 years from the original 147 (civil rights passed in 1965 after a senator Byrd helped helped end a 52 week filibuster.
That leaves us with: 48 years of "freedom".
We are are fathers. I'm a strong believer in genetic memory. Even sons that don't grow up with their Father's, find themselves acting just like them.
People say that slavery, civil rights, and by extension racism, "Ended a long time ago." But after really thinking about it, I decided that 48 years really wasn't that long ago.
And I started thinking about some of the kids that I had taught and the way they would act. I knew their backgrounds, and allot of them had been abused, or lived in a poverty stricken environment. Black, White, and Brown all seemed to share behavioral problems that stemmed from 1 or a combination of things that I mentioned above.
(sorry I'm late, I've got kids)

To be fair, African slavery goes back even B.C. That is being generous.
It is too far reaching to consider the enslavement of all people because it never really ended (yes, I mean actually slavery today; and no not that "In the man's world" crap) and it is better to focus on specifics.
African slavery was more a "you are a POW slave" rather than "you are a slave because by default because of you skin tone."
It is oversimplifying a lot to not even discuss it that far.

What is this garbage? I know plenty of people who have fathers and mothers who work tons of hours a week just to earn a living and busting thier asses while their kid is a lazy jerk that wont do a thing.
We are not our fathers, that is ridiculous thing to say. To say that we are racist because our fathers were and their fathers were and so on is incredibly naive of you and you should be ashamed of yourself for being lead to believe that is true.
edit: By your logic..if all the whites are racist because their fathers fathers and so on were racist..then all blacks are illiterate morons who can do nothing but work on a farm. Since none of them were educated back then.

clapping
all that, to say this:
If you were beaten, verbally, sexually, and mentally abused for 13 years of your life, and then you were all of a sudden set "free" into the cold world at large, you might be a little F^%$ed up in the head, and in the Game.
You might feel that the only person you can rely on is you. After a while this attitude (adopted as a coping mechanism and adapted for survival) becomes second nature. After all, self preservation is priority #1.
This can be directly applied to "Why Black people think that white people are out to them."
I think that I, personally, got to an age where I could no longer pretend to be blind.
For my family's sake, I can't afford to be blind.
Acting like we're playing on an even field, or even the notion that one currently exists anywhere, threatens my future and the future of my children.
Question?
Why do we celebrate Dr. King and not Malcolm X?
Both were great men.
Why do we still have the KKK, and NRA
and no Black Panther Party?
Aren't we victims of terrorism?

To be CLEAR, I wasn't talking about "White" Racism.
But the root of "Black" racism. And a part of my theory as to why I'm so mad.

1. Why do we celebrate a "Black history month" and not a white history month? An asian history month? A hispanic history month....
2. Why do we still have the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People..to look out for the rights of colored people? Pretty racist to look after the advancement of a certain race of people while not caring about another.
We have no black panther party because there is no need to a racist militant group like themselves...just as there is no need for the KKK(which is why you don't see 1,000 many marches in washington by the KKK)...hell are they even still around?
Wake up and join us in the 21st century please. Thanks.

Well you are my friend..and I hope you can join us someday and try to see all of us as equals and try to overcome your bigotry..or at least not pass it down to your kids.

Dr King and Malcolm X: King Jr. was a mason. I'm going to guess you know what that means. Actually the entire SCLC was composed of masons. He strayed from his objective but integration actually blah blah (pm me for more, I'm lazy)
Black Panthers: All sniffed out by the government. This is a well known fact though.
While I sympathize with what you are saying, to generalize is the same trap and getting put in the Game. I understand what you are saying but it seems as if you have not understood a lot of these things in their complete context.
Victims of terrorism as black people? No. This country was built on blood and capitalism. All people white, black, hispanic, and asian have felt the brunt of the stick. People are getting ****ed but it is not just a racial thing. These things are all intertwined. If you choose to see that or not is another thing altogether.

Clown.
I'm not just talking about your Jobs/hopes/slash dreams.
I'm talking about mannerisms/habits/likes/dislikes.
You are what you know.
For the lucky ones who have Fathers, like it or not, he patterned the type of man you'd be.
whether you're just like him or the exact, conscious, opposite.

I don't see Julius Erving juniors (and he had a BUNCH of kids) in the NBA. They are certainly old enough.
What you are talking about is the environment. Take the child of a rich guy and throw him into a impoverished situation and he will be as they are. What is genetic about that?

I don't have a problem seeing White people as equals. I give you ALL the credit that's due.
The first step in winning is realising and respecting who you're playing against.

Why do you continue to add fuel to the 'race war' that you are causing? It's people like you who keep racism a lot..you are a terrorist.

I agree, but all that's another part of my theory.
