I'd probably take her somewhere quiet like a park and just keep on saying funny things until she eventually laughs. No one can keep a straight face forever.

I don't have a girlfriend but I've cheered girls up before. Its actually not that hard unless they're piss mad and even then they eventually crack.

If its too much, he should probably follow your advice and give her some time to cool down.
