Obviously.

If a movie character doesn't look exactly like their comic book counterpart, then a bunch of people might be disappointed.

Remember Venom from Spiderman 3?

I actually liked Venom's look in Spidey 3. It was the execution and the screentime that disspointed me.

I liked his raised webbing, I had no real problem with him being lean, I liked the lean look, the real problems were just that he was all black and well no screen time, no real voice, is a weakling, keeps removing the mask, 15 mins of screen time, Venom works alone, never showed of his ability's, also he never got called Venom in the film...

Some of those are good points.

The only thing that disappointed me appearance-wise was his build.

If he was a little more muscular, then he would have looked much better.

Compared to his comic counterpart, yes....weak. However I wouldnt neccesarily call him a weakling. Even after Sandman was defeated, Venom was still giving Spidey a wooping. Also, Venom doesnt always work alone. Marvel really likes to give its character's alliances. Venom has allied with Spidey to take on Carnage a couple of times. Also, in Venom vs Carnage, Venom teams up with Carnage to fight Toxin at the end....at least according to wiki.

I meant villain wise, he never teams up with other villains in the Spider-Man universe, except for when he teamed up with Carnage, but to be fair Toxin would have killed him if he had wished.

If I also recall correctly, Venom joined the sinister six at one point as well.

He did.

And then went on to kill Sandman, slash open Kravens stomach and severely hurt Electro, believing they should die and that he should never had teamed up with them at the time.

So yeah he joined them but he never liked them, in fact they insulted him most of the time.

Even still, the point here is that Venom has teamed with other villains in the past. Thus not making it un-reasonable for Venom to team with Sandman in the movie. I agree with you though. It would have been if Venom had just taken on Spidey by himself.

Either way, Venom was a big let down in Spiderman 3. Venom definatly deserves a whole movie to himself. And so he gets the spin off. Though to be honest, the spin off just sounds like an attempt to cash in on those who were dissapointed with his lack of screen time. I would actually much rather have him make a comeback in a future Spiderman film as a primary villain. Though I will still be seeing the spin off!

But still he disbanded from them and tried to kill them, also stating they were evil and you know the whole should be punished line he uses, but i found that weird why team up with sandman when he killed him in the comics, Venom seems to work alone most of the time, wanting SM only for himeself.

And yeah he was.

One thing that always confused me about Venom's appearance and Spiderman 3 was the lack of his signature tongue. They say its because parents would find it too provocative, yet the spiderman 3 Venom action figure has the tongue in all its glory? So why take the tongue of the movie for children, when you're gonna put the tongue on something DIRECTLY marketed towards children.....silly Raimi...

I can understand if they were going for the first look sort of thing, yet he looks nothing like his first design, he should have had that tongue and a longer battle.

Not even a longer battle would have changed it for me. He needed a more in depth character development. When Venom just shows up and attacks spidey, you really dont feel as though this is Spiderman's greatest challenge yet. Spiderman needed more than one encounter with Venom to make the showdown at the end more epic. Which is why I think Venom should return in a future spiderman man instead of just getting a spinoff.

One idea that was being tossed around was interesting to me. That in Spiderman four, it could be revealed that Topher Grace was actually Eddie Brock Jr. And that his father would be the original Eddie Brock from the comics. Thus when the symbiote would bond with the Eddie Brock Sr., giving him the tongue, Bulkier appearance, more sceentime (lol), and a fantastic reason to hate Spiderman.

Edit: Actually I just read on wiki that Topher Grace was indeed playing Eddie Brock "Jr."

That actually sounds like a good idea.

Eddie brock and Venom were forced into 3, it was not natural so to speak for them to appear.

Yeah, Avi Arad forced Raimi to put Venom in the film despite Raimi's disliking to the character. However, with Spiderman 4 it is highly likely that Raimi will not return as director. Therefore perhaps we can get a Venom fan at the forefront.

I like that idea of two Venom's it could even end up his father becoming Carnage instead...I must admit there must have been more of the symbiote in that meteorite.

I would like to have some good Comic Book movies. Spidey 3 wasnt good and neither was X3, IMHO.

😎 Man, I feel great.

Anyway, I didn't like X-Men that much, either. It could have been a lot better.

It had no real plot.
