As for good Japanese music, I honestly could not recommend anything recent as it's been years since I've really listened to anything, beyond what gets played at ACen (and then I have no idea what it is). Still fond of Dragon Ash and Dir en Grey, though.

It just depends on what sort of music you like. Mainstream Japanese music is not as hugely varied as it is in other countries but there's still a lot of variety, especially if you dig around a bit.

I have their Bomb The Twist CD, which has Woo Hoo on it, and other great songs.

The only few that can come to mind are Sigh and Bathtub Shitter. Especially Sigh. Unless you're into pop, rock w/ Engrish, or grindcore, you'd best keep away from Japanese music, imo.

Kemuri is damn good, and so is Ska Ska Club, which has 12 members by the way! 😮 Well, these are ska, so might not be good in everyones opinion.

Someone mentioned Guitar Wolf, pretty good, I like some of their songs actually, got interested in them because in Black Lagoon-anime Revy listened to them from radio... Right, that wasn´t relevant information, ehh... But it´s a fact though. 😄

saw them this weekend, was a very weird moment where I woke up, opened the curtains and saw the girl from boris with her daughter watching geese about 2ft outside my window. they played a quality set later that day as well.
