Fact of the matter is, this is not that much to do with islam, and a heck of a lot more to do with Sudan, which is in the grip of an insane ruler applying things in insane ways. Similar things happen in countries such as Zimbabwe, with different pretexts. That's why all this talk of "Oh, she should have learned to be culturally sensitive before going out there" is nonsense. No reasonable amount of preparation could have forseen this. It is not a generic Muslim issue.
Though, for sure, Islam has its issues.
See my question above, why aren't the non-radical Muslims throughout the world protesting this "hijacking" of their "religion of peace", by the Muslims who want her killed, whipped and/or jailed in the name of Islam?
Has there even been a peep from a Muslim group, Country or figure-head protesting the calls for the death or beating? When someone denounces Islam as an "evil", "brutal" or "violent" religion, Muslims protest, why not now, when this situation is clearly putting Islam in a bad light, yet again.
Because people just don't act like that in general. Same with Christians when Christian extremists do things, as often happens in Africa.
Sure, Islam is more given to producing extremism or excuses for extreme beheaviour, but the principle remains the same.
Though the literal answer to your question about whether we have heard a peep from any Muslim group condemning the action is 'yes', as you would know if you had kept up with the news. Such condemnation was clearly made.
