I was thinking of writing a story. The premise: Jack the Ripper was never caught. Black Dahlia murderer was never caught. Zodiac killer was never caught. Now a new copycat killer appears, and in the end it turns out he was one being, who somehow made a pact with the devil that he may stay immortal, so long as he kills humans without getting caught. As long as he does this, he stays immortal. At the end, they catch him, and as they de-mask him, his face crumbles away into dust, as does the rest of his body.
