She kicked his ass not long ago when Samson was sent to get Cho, hit him quite a few miles away IIRC.

When really atleast IMO, he shoulda slapped the ***** senseless.

This not considering them equal and She-hulk has come a long way .She took out abomination and talking about skill she was trained by gamora and took out champion granted she was amp at the time but that does not take away from the skill it took to beat him.

That's me exaggerating to get my point across, I do it alot.

She took out Abomination? So have Marrow & Angel.

And the Champion thing? I love Dan Slott, he's a great writer, but he's the biggest fanboy in the biz. Sometimes that's a good thing, other times it's not. I can't remember how it happened, but I definetly remember reading She Hulk vs Champion, which if you take into consideration the peoeple Champion's beaten, Jen shouldn't stand a chance.

Most people shouldn't.

Yeah but you used hulk as an example I could list the many people who have taken him out as well that were less powerful than he is and yeah champion is a major jobber but She-hulk definately trumps doc in h2h.I have no problem looking at them at equals i was more responding to your comment that he shoulda slapped the ***** senseless but you cleared up what you meant

👆 Blame Jim Starlin. Champion lost to SS and its been downhill from there. Oops my bad not Jim Starlin but whoever wrote the fight between SS and Champions started the Champion jobbing trend.

SS has the powerset to put him clearly ahead of Champion though. Some of the later fights were a bit ridiculous though, such as losing to She-Hulk.

I dont think SS could beat somebody who can throw Thor, Hulk, Wonder Man, Namor, Doc Samson, Sasquatch, Collosus and Thing with ease. I dont think so I think somebody like that would stomp the living **** out of him.

Furthermore Champs said either fight with me or i'll destroy your world they werent like "Hey man **** you, were gonna kick your ass!!" They were like "We dont have a choice". Champs could have ****ed them up there and then.

Yes, I do.

And I'm not, seeing as Samson's held his own several times against Savage Hulk and IIRC he's defeated him before. Jen really shouldn't be that much of a problem for him, I see them as about equals but think he'd probably edge it through the experience advantage.

Samson's never really beaten the Hulk, though the best he's gotten was a knock out with a cheap shot.

Jen's also held her own against Hulk a few times, but I would say Samson only really looked better than her against him when he fought against Mindless Hulk for about six hours. Considering the upgrades she's received in her fighting skills, it's avery big stretch to say she shouldn't be a problem for him.

The reason SS has the powerset to win is his versatility, not raw physical ability.

I mostly agree with you that Champion should be unstoppable in a pure physical fight versus just about anybody. When you have 8 billion years to train in every fighting style known in the universe, you'd be damn sure to muck someone up in a tussle.

His fight versus Thanos was more a display of Thanos' wit than of physical ability; Thanos realized that he was physically outmatched and had no hopes of winning in a purely physical confrontation. When he lost to She-Hulk that was the ultimate jobbing in effect though, and IMHO piss-poor writing.

I never used to like Samson, but I've got to admit his characterization's impressed me recently (I'm talking about in Thunderbolts, not jobbing to She Hulk)

That was in Silver Surfer #1, back in 1987, written by Steve Engelhart.
And it's not far-fetched that Norrid could beat him. Champion is a millenia-experienced mega-brick of a brawler, but that's all he does. Surfer didn't need to trade punches with him, when he could just power cosmic-energy blast him into submission. It was him using his versatility & his brain.

Yes but SS beat Champion by using brute force by using his energy blasts his raw physical power should have allowed him to shrug it off. Furthermore Champion took a shot from Thors hammer and was fine the next panel as if nothing had happened. SS blast him with a shot and he gets KOed WTF.

That was bad writing as well because Champion has shown to favour skill and finese. This is the guy who didnt want to fight the Hulk because he was a brute and had no skill, this the guy who said that Thor had power but no skill and grace, this is the guy who trained the heroes before fighting them because they were not up to his skill level. They forgot about all that and made him fight like that Hulk. Obvoulsy somebody took one look at Champion and said "Hes got big muscles he must be dumb" Furthermore Champion can teleport objects so there is likely a good chance he should be able to teleport himself at any rate he could have used that power to help himself when he got stranded in space but he suddenly forgot he could do it.

Not true hes not a brawler they just changed him into one. For starters when he came to earth he orederd that the heroes had to train before they fought him. Furthermore he can also teleport objects, so im sorry but that is just incorrect.

Thats not versatility thats brute force. Somebody of Champions power could take that **** all day. Champs got hit with a two handed hammer strike by Thor and was cool the next panel like nothing had happened. He threw off earths toughest power men like they were nothing. The way which SS beat Obliterator was ok but not Champion. SS used his power to alter Obliterators tech, thats versatility.

While I'm not 100% sure , I do believe Samson has recently been retconned. His hair level no longer influences his strength. The article I read stated that his levels have stabilised around Class 35.

Really now?

Because the latest Thunderbolt has him as Hulk-class threat and capable of easily withstanding Penance's attacks.

Well nuts, sorry 'bout that folks.

I must have been mistaken, albeit my memory is a bit scattershot lately....

Good interview, I can't wait to read the new arc.

New interview with Loeb is up:
http://www.wizarduniverse.com/magazine/wizard/006767606.cfm

“A lot of my inspiration for the character came from, of all places, that movie ‘The Last Unicorn,’” laughs the artist. There’s this character in there called the Red Bull, and it’s just this giant, flaming red bull who would chase these unicorns. I had that impression in my head, and I’m like, ‘Well, I could merge that with the Hulk and make it a brand-new character.’ He’s the next level of what the Hulk could possibly be.”

"Expect McGuinness to unleash a new, murderous look for the Hulk’s longtime nemesis. “The best Hulk stories are the ones where the Hulk is going up against someone who is formidable—where you actually believe he’s going to get his ass handed to him,” says Loeb of Abomination’s threat potential. However, this next fight may go much differently than before. “Because of the [change in Hulk’s] power, he’s very much a force of nature. It isn’t just that he’s smashing things, he’s actually changing things as he’s growing and growing more powerful.”

Loeb's a madman alright.
