STAR WARS: RETROSPECTION- Trials

Trax suggests that you start cutting as soon as the heavies begin blasting the door down. It is a large door; some twenty slaves will be able to rush through at a time. It will take a full sequence for the heavies to blast through and for you to cut it down, while Trax's method will only take an action.

The grenadiers are unsure if they even have smoke grenades.

Prassk reminds you that maybe the shield-bearers should go first to set up the equipment.

Ok then Xavier will begin to cut as soon as the Heavies blast.

Then yeah ignore the grenades for this moment. Each group will take the shield bearers in first. With Prassk, Xavier, Hoondan, and Trax leading them in with a few otehr slaves for covering fire.

Despite the heavy appearance of the door, it is not so thick that your lightsaber cannot sink through it. Metal melts or turns to plasma as the blue blade slowly carves its way up one side of the door frame. You must hold it high above your head and drag it across the door when you try to create a higher doorway, as the blast door itself is twice your height.

The heavies bombard their door with concussion rifles, the metal heating and warping from the energy and force of the concussive blasts. The slaves join in, discharging their blasters into the door to sufficiently damage it for the heavies to continue their work.

Trax breaks into a panel and makes ready to hack through the door's security.

Behind you all, the slaves anxiously wait for their moment to take revenge on the Pirate Lord and his minions that have ruined their lives and treated them as beasts of burden. You sense fear mingled with anger, radiating in waves off of the slaves.

Xavier sees the anger coming from them. He knows that it could be a useful weapon to destroy the enemy. Yet as a Jedi he should not be willing to use such things to his advantage. Yet it is logical to use their anger.

"Men remember he who took your lives away are beyond this door. Follow my words and my commands and his blood shall be yours!"

With that Xavier will execute Operation "CHAAAAAAARGE"

Three things happen at once.

With the combined firepower of the concussion rifles and the blaster rifles, chunks of the blast door strain and finally give way under the relentless firing. Clearing away as much as they can, the slaves keep firing until the entrance is wide enough for men to rush through with the shields.

Molten metal streams down the blast door like blood from a wound as you drag your lightsabers through it. Eventually you reach the right end and cut down along the door frame, finishing your task of cutting through the door. With a simple push in the Force, this slab of melted door falls into the bridge and men rush through with the shields.

Trax simply pushes a button, having set up his effect beforehand, and the door grinds open slowly. Once it has lifted high enough, men rush through the with shields.

All six shields hum to life near-simultaneously, offering a great deal of protection to the slaves behind the doors. You dash in, lightsaber thrust forward, all slaves dashing in to get behind the energy shields and get the extra heavy weapons set up.

But the pirates do not fire.

Xavier takes a moment to see why the Pirates are not firing just yet.

HE will use Scan if he must to see if there are other emotions besides the anger felt by his army.

Confusion, now.

The bridge is as you last saw it. The banquet table stretches down the center of the room, toward the raised area where the ship is operated from by a small crew. Turrets and energy shields have extended themselves from the walls, the latter serving as cover for some of the pirates.

But many of the pirates are above you, on the walkways and catwalks that hang from the ceiling of the bridge for maintenance or convenience purposes. Most line the sides of the bridge, but there is one walkway that crosses the center, above the banquet table.

Friste stands there with his hostage, Loola.

Roughly how many Pirates are there Rex?

Xavier will tell his men to stay behind the cover.

"Frost, it is nice to see you again," Xavier says in a calm unrelated voice.

You are not sure, but you think have more slaves than there are pirates.

Friste has his lightsaber in hand, the other clamped around the back of Loola's neck. "And to you, Xavier!"

"No formalities!" shouts Svidrigailov, striding across the bridge area where the crew is operating the ship. He is accompanied by his bodyguards.

"Very well," Friste says. "Xavier, order your men to put their weapons down or she dies."

Everything in Xavier tells him to attack. They will never get another chance like this, but he also knows Friste will not hesitate.

This is striking at the very core of his mission. On one hand he knows his army could overpower the pirates, but he could not guarantee Loola's survival from it.

He wished Master Cabas was here he could find the medium between the two options. Xavier has almost only come to deal in absolutes these past few days.

He looks into Friste's eyes. Xavier is logical but he must be logical to the mission. He really doesn't care about the people to his back or the even Loola. To be a Jedi he must be focused on the Mission. With that he deactivates his lightsaber tossing it to the ground. He orders everyone around him to give up their weapons as well.

"Friste Tem hiding behind a girl I never thought I would see the day," Xavier says.

The slaves hesitate, unsure if they are so willing to give up their freedom for one person. Prassk and Hoondan offer no opinion, but Trax offers his.

"No!" Trax shouts. "We must fight! We are within a breath's flight of freedom!"

"My ultimatum stands," Friste replies, now addressing the slaves. "Drop your weapons now and I can promise you the freedom you so badly desire. What does it matter if this operation continues? You will be free of it."

The slaves look at each other, unsure what to do.

"Can you really trust in this man?" Trax asks. "This man who has beaten you, broken you, laid you so low that slavery did not seem so bad? I am not buying anything he sells. I want to earn my freedom, not take it from the guarantee of an untrustworthy demon."

During this exchange, you hear a voice trickle at the back of your mind.

Lift them. Run to her. Go now.

Xavier drops to his knees and begins to meditate while Trax talks. He is right for what he is saying.

Then a voice enters his hea. Could it be Friste or Cabas. Or perhaps something else. He doesn't care anymore. His mind is like a robot, and anything it is told he will do. For now his mind is clouded.

As silence develops the room Xavier speaks softly, "Do as Trax says, fight earn your freedom."

With that Xavier picks up his loghtsaber activates it and begins to run Towards Loola. "ATTACK"

The slaves are rallied by your sudden call to action and the charge you perform yourself. Staying behind the energy shields, the slaves that have already entered prepare to open fire on the pirates in the final climactic clash!

Are you doing anything in particular for your charge down the center?

Xavier will use defend for defense.

He wants the Grenadiers to throw anything and everything they have at the walkways not near Loola.

Xavier has a particular plan in mind. He wants the Heavies to attack the the area where the pirates are operating the machines. Xavier is hoping that much like last time when he messed with the machines everything will go haywire.

He wants Trax, Hoondan, and Prassk to begin whittling away the people at the Center Walkway.

When Xavier gets close enough he wants to use Master Jump to get up to the nearest Walkway.

Defend is noted, but I meant more on a personal level. You don't have time to coordinate the firepower of your men, which Trax will likely do for you. But Friste is nine frames distant... you may not reach him in time. Going to try anything?

Are the walks way being held up by anything like Cables?

If so then Xavier may try to use Master Saber Throw to cut one side of the cables to cause it to fall and send everyone on it falling down?

If not could Xavier hit Friste with a Combat Push this far away sending just him and Loola Over the Edge?

The walkways hang from the ceiling from metal poles. Throwing your lightsaber could only cut down so many, not to mention it would leave you unarmed should the pirates open fire on you.

You would need Fling to perform that feat, as Friste may be expecting you to try that and will brace for it. Combat Push may be able to wrest his lightsaber away from him, but that requires a great deal of focus (and a great roll!).

I am more concerned with how you are getting there. Blur-enhanced run, straight run, run with dodging...?

Let's just Blur it for now 😛

You sprint at full speed out from the cover of the energy shields, leaping up onto the banquet table as you rush to reach Loola in time. For dramatic effect, Friste ignites his lightsaber in a ponderous fashion, then waits.

Svidrigailov and Trax give the order to fire to their respective forces...

Slaves win the iniative roll! Trax orders all to use their blasters (grenadiers included) and to concentrate firepower on the walkways. Thirty pirates are taken out! Trax himself claims one, while Prassk and Hoondan each destroy a turret.

Svidrigailov gives no specific orders and the pirates strike. They are frustrated by the hardcore shields that have been erected, and only kill fifteen slaves, their bolts slipping through gaps between the shields.

The turrets experience a similar frustration, their charged particle beams hammering the shields to little effect. Still, eight slaves are caught in the blasts.

This is going to be close, Xavier... you are still three frames distant (two with Blur) and Friste will not wait long...

Xavier will use Blur again and if he has to reach Friste Master Jump as well.

If he can he will snap an attack at Friste hopefully forcing him to have to let go of Loola to save himself.
