Well, with all due respect to your religous preferences, you don't HEAR too many atheists on television being given a level platform on which to share their beliefs. They're often maginalized and dismissed by people just like you. You can't mention Rosie O'Donnel without pointing out that she's a dyke. So, you can't really recuse yourself from the absurdity of holding this dumb ***** out to be representtive of the mindset of many christians, when you do exactly the same with Rosie.
I'm sorry, I wouldn't call Rosie "O'Dyke" if everything with her weren't "I AM A HUGE LESBIAN, FEAR My WRATH."
(That sort of misses the point, I know.)
It reminds me of when Bill O'Rielly declared victory in the "War on Christmas", against the "FORCES of DARKESS" (his words, not mine) By calling people crazy, he removes a very important aspect of the situation: PEOPLE. This country doesn't belong to one group of people over another. If the owner of a store doesn't want his employees to say "Merry Chirstmas" to their customers, that's the perrogative of that private buisness owner, not the throngs of outraged christians standing outside his store, interfereing with his AMERICAN RIGHT to operate his buisness as he sees fit without the interference of a group of pinheads who think their outrage should become public mandate. Bill Orielly called that buisness owner a member of the FORCES OF DARKNESS! It's another example of social conservative hypocrisy. They support buisness at all expense, the privitization of government, but refuse to allow the buisness to be private.
It's spelled "business," and I don't know much about the situation, so I won't comment aside from saying that I think protesting over such a thing is a little much.
I don't understand people like yourself that are social conservatives, who get worked up over the declining morals of the nation;
It's disgusting, that's why.
support the Republican party, who uses and abuses you;
Pro-life. If Democrats were pro-life and Republicans were pro-choice, I'd vote Democrat.
insist on the ten commandments being displayed in our courts;
I don't; I just think the noise the ACLU makes about religious discrimination is ridiculous.
insist that the shorthand for christmas is going to land this country in hell,
I don't, although Fred Phelps and Co. might.
and the country continues to become more and more the kind of place you don't want to live.
If it makes you feel any better, it'll probably be conservatives at one point blathering about how they want to move to Canada instead of liberals.
You ought to be happy. At one point in the future, I believe that we will be a far left socialist country where everyone is happy and the masses feel no outrage at anything.
