If you watch Telemundo or any of the South American News Programs, they will report abuse against Hispanics in the United States, which U.S.A. will not cover. That's how I find out about the level of brutality against Hispanics, primilarily Mexicans.
South America has its own problems, beleive me.
And if you want to learn something interesting, Racism is South America is actually worse than it is in the United States.
At least in the United States you can sue someone for not hiring you based on race, or making any sort of act of racial discrimination against you, even as assonine as name-calling. In South America, verbal, social, and economic attacks/offenses based on race aren't taken seriously. Only when a person of color is attacked physically does the law do anything.
Classism in South America is worse, because usually the Spaniard descendents who are "whiter looking" are far richer than the "cholos"- Incan and Native South American inhabitants.
Not to mention, Meztizos, who because of racism and catholicism, are not only sometimes taught to be ashamed of thier "Indian" roots, but also know almost nothing about the mythologies of the Incas.
They should be proud. The Incan Empire was one of the greatest in History, they are considered the "Rome" of the early Western world.
