The IG grants omniscience and with omniscience one would know how to not be overwhelmed. Thanos beating himself has to do with his character, but it also served as a plot device that furthered the IG series.

LT would still win.

IG grants omniscience as far as the time gem, possibly the mind gem, is concerned.

Not every wielder is equally competent...Adam warlock noted that Nebula would not be as quick as thanos to acclimate herself to god-hood.

IG grants nothing about wisdom...witness thanos leaving the gauntlet on his person while becoming eternity

Witness also magus not realizing he had an incomplete gauntlet...the gauntlet may grant the same powers to everyone but not everyone would utilize said powers knowledgeably and acutely.

If you grant spider-man eternity's powers, does that make him equal to eternity in all aspects?

Like if you hand someone a gun, not everyone will shoot the same with it.
Some aim better than others. It still has the same power though.
a soldier is more deadly than a stock broker with a pistol most of the time.

dumb example?(maybe)

hand someone a baseball bat- some may not know how to swing it.

ect,ect. 😎

I disagree K,
Warlock always knew he was below the LT:

I somewhat disagree here...

In the scans you posted,
Warlock never says anything along the lines of being less powerful than LT.

He submitted to LT for the sake of the Universe, [as to not inadvertently destroy it in a resulting conflict].

Never once did he say anything like,
"LT is just too powerful -- I give up."

I'm not saying Warlock wasn't below LT -- just that, imo, he never alluded to the fact.

well he did say that he "knew" that a fight with lt was pointless (due to the power of the time gem, im guessing he can see possible futures)and, lt easily fixed all the damage warlock inflicted with a gesture. but the only fact that matters is this: TOAA> LT>rest of marvel

I have to disagree back,

Actually according to the LT's bio,
that "little drama" as Warlock coins it,
is exactly what depicted the LT as being "superior" to the IG:

Not exactly, Warlock submitted because,

1. The LT ordered him to.
2. Warlock never wanted this status of god.

LT asked,

"is that the type of god you are"

Warlock responds,

"No, I am the type who sees the Future and is held prisoner by it,
how many times has this little drama repeated itself to me"
.......................................................................................................

And what is it that Warlock saw in the Future concerning this little drama?

--- Submitting to the LT, and giving up the IG. ---

.......................................................................................................

Warlock always knew he was never going to battle the LT,
because Warlock never wanted this Godhood to begin with.

In fact,
Warlock even admits that his defiance is just a reaction even though he knows the outcome.

"Maddening the way I react even though I know how things will turn out,
This mantle of supremacy never fit comfortably on my shoulders"

I don't think he had to, it was quite obvious,
that's why the LT's Bio points to that moment to prove the LT is above the IG.

This is the most obvious of all of course:

"I was called to judgement by the Living Tribunal,
the servant of the One who is above even Gods
.
The verdict went against me and I was ordered ..."
.......................................................................................................

Warlock clearly admits Toaa is above the IG,
and since Toaa is above the IG ... he means, so is his servant/representative.
This is why Warlock considers the LT's judgement an order and not a request.

Otherwise,
what's the point of the LT claiming he "represents forces that dwarf the IG"
or his "authority comes from on high"

A post which had little to nothing to do with what I said.

Warlock never once stated LT was more powerful than he... Not once. That is what I was getting at.

Actually it had everything to do with what you said.

That is what I was getting at.

Again,
he didn't have to say those exact words,
it was obvious with other statements.

You said Warlock gave up the IG for the sake of the universe, which isn't accurate.

Warlock gave up the IG,
because the LT ordered him to,
and because Warlock knew the LT represented power above him,
and because finally, Warlock didn't want the power anyway.

That is what I was getting at.

Interesting, I remember saying Warlock knew,
I don't ever remember saying Warlock said anything:

Nah.

According to Warlock ... Yah:

"I was called to judgement by the Living Tribunal,
the servant of the One who is above even Gods
.
The verdict went against me and I was ordered ..."
.........................................................................................................

According to LT's official bio ... Yah:

"The LT ordered ... Warlock, in doing so,
the LT demonstrated that his power surpassed that of the Gems"
.........................................................................................................

If you see it different friend, as you wish.

So because LT 'ordered' Warlock to surrender the Gems -- and Warlock eventually did so, it means Warlock 'always knew' LT > he? Okie Dokie, but I partially disagree with that. 🙂

Anyhow,
This is boring.... Carry on. 🙂

Nah, more like because Warlock actually stated it (his admission about Toaa)
and the official Marvel bio confirmed it.

And this:

That's an exhibition of superiority is it not?

Cool, Marvel seems to think that's the case:

"The LT ordered ... Warlock, in doing so,
the LT demonstrated that his power surpassed that of the Gems"
.............................................................................................

But who knows. 🙂

You should count how many times you've posted the same scans in the last few pages.

I bet even you would giggle. 🙂

hmm tuff fight for marvels survival. with out something like thotu i cant see marvel surviving.

some one with thotu?

beyonders?

mabey a crap load of cubes? one fractured cube did an omniveral feat? or em i recaliing it incorectly?

how about rachel(phoenix) when the beyonder gave her the power to kill him? she also did some soul/life force drain like her mother did when the m'kran/energy matrix was repaired. that was a high feat and her mom only had 10 or so to back her up, with a univers full of lives/souls to back it should be more power?

maelstrom with the Qbands?

just a few that i could think of

What does this have to do with the debate?
I'll repeated them as many times as need be to get the facts across.
(and they have to be because they're either being overlooked or ignored)
I think you're going off-topic btw, and leaning into a world that gets ugly,
let's not go there ... either we continue this respectable discussion or we end it here.

Peace & love yall. stoned

I have been very respectful...

But you'd think after the 3rd or 4th time posting the same scan on the same page of a thread, it might occur to you that you don't really need to post it again.

Just made me lulz is all.... Sorry if you were offended. 🙂

I posted the scan where Warlock is admitting he was ordered and obeyed, Twice.
I posted the LT's Bio highlight 3 times. (it was necessary)

It made me lulz too, (further debate after the proof)
but we all have our weaknesses I guess.

I'm not offended, but I'll admit to disliking off-topic remarks that carry a tint of snideness.
Anywho, back on topic,
IMO based on indirect facts,
Taimut would be more impressing with the IG than Warlock or Thanos.
Same goes for Eternity if he had it.
..................................................................

That's my final opinion on the matter.

I agree,

Taimut & Eternity have never had the IG, so the facts have to be indirect. 🙂

First of all do you know what the word omniscience means? Until you do, I don't see the point in continuing this.

Don't talk snidely with me.

You're arguing that giving a squirrel the IG is the same as giving Eternity the IG.

IG makes you omnipotent. NOT truly omniscient.
