Dvd recorder

I have a few tv shows on vhs (dr who) I was wondring is it possable to transfer them using my dvd recorder ? VCR to DVD recorder ?

Or do i have to buy a combi ??

Should be really easy. The DVR machine has RCA ins, right? so just run a yellow red and blue (or white) cable, etc
