Intercooler EX

Ok i've heard the stories of the old intercooler, how it melted the back of consoles and such. But i've heard that the new one which is metal instead of plastic won't fry the console. I've read a ign review but i'm not one to trust most of these reviews just wondering if anybody had any personal experience with the new intercoolers.
