question for mqinly americans I assume

something we saw in school in a course called media

(the teacher says some dumb things so I'm not saying this is true)
But he said the american president has to buy time on the american TV networks if he wants his announcements to be broadcast is this true???

I'm not sure, but maybe.

seems idiotic so not sure

It's so idiotic it's probably true.

no if it is true it would also be like that in belgium

why? cause what the Yanks do the Belgians have to do too

no cause we have a lot of silly rules and laws 😛

Actually I don't think that's true. I think that sort of thing falls under the Public Announcement arena...but I'm not sure.

Actually... if TV is mostly commercialised in the US, why SHOULDN'T the White House have to pay for broadcast time?

i think its true.

I'd be interested to hear what the US law on public annoucments is. But as it is I think it is a bit harsh to force commercial networks to show presidential announcements for free.

i dunno, with geoge bush as president. whenever he's on tv theres always a chance of accidental comedy 🙄

May as well make some money out of it, then!

exactly

i dont think he has to buy time because when he talks he comes on EVERY channel at the SAME EXACT time..plus im pretty sure the government has control over that, not the TV stations..

Do you mean every channel? Like all the small ones, and Nick and the like?

If it is all the major ones, I would imagine they just request the same time on each.

yes..all the channels..whenever hes making an anouncement i cant even watch disney without being interupted..no one even listens to what he says anyways

That's only because he does not want anyone to change channels and ignore him. No matter which channel you change to, their he is.

no one cares what he has to say!!! and especially putting it on the kid channels too! i mean, kids dont even understand what hes saying, nevermind care to know!

I have no clue.....I'm not up on news let alone political stuff
