Not one opponent Thanos faced when he had the IG could defeat the Spectre, so your example fails.
Yes, his power fluctuates, but the Spectre that faced AM was not only at his full power, it was boosted by outside sources and facing the power of limitless universes.
The IG might be multiversal, but it has never defeated a multiversal entity as Nvr said.
By on-panel feats, the AM devours the universe. The IG has never been shown to be able to increase it's power. Different blasts? The IG didn't fight and stalemate LT. It didn't destroy the multiverse. It didn't get barraged by countless powers, including a Spectre empowered by a 5D imp, all the magic in 5 universes, and the Presence itself.

It overcame all it faced while in the end the Spectre laid unconscious while heroes and Darkseid killed the Am. Just a couple of good guys and such deal the killerblow. In marvel the ig could have dispatched them with but a thought but Thanos chose instead to lower his powers and still killed them easily. 🙂
