RKT is probably the single most powerful Skyfather. Thanos is a skyfather. But Thanos have something that augment his strenght and his power in a manner that multipliate it. RKT is dead.

We have never seen any feat from the power gem alone that would suggest it could beat the king of skyfathers,ima go with thanos getting the gem stolen from him.

well, champion did bust a planet when he had the power gem
and if champion could channel the power of the power gem subconciously, thanos would be able to use the power gem more effectively.

Those who wield it can really only access those powers WITH THE REST OF THE INFINITY GAUNTLET, which is why WM Thor was able to one-shot Drax w/power gem, why Thor wasn't unbeatable when he later had the Power Gem and why Thanos won't be unbeatable when he has the power gem.
