When are OPs due?
ASP

Matches are going up tomorrow at 7:00 EST I generally like to have people's OPs in an hour before hand.

Is there an in-game speed cap? I swear I read there was, but I am not sure on the specifics, or any loopholes that may exist. Just thought it needed to be asked, since Ive been discussing it with someone on MSN.

They said there was a definite speed cap, being that Paul was allowed to pick someone (bart?) that was > lightspeed, but could only go right under light speed for all the matches (the speed cap). I on the other hand was not sure if an amalgam working together could break the "cap" or not.

So NJ, answers?

So who the crap am I judging (the matches that start tomorrow)?

There is a speed Cap for the characters coming in being at lightspeed but I don't think there ever was a Cap on how fast someone could go through power meshing.

there wasn't. i specifically checked with red way back when i chose savitar and vulcan. the only rule was all INDIVIDUALS were capped. any amalgam is ALSO capped unless via power-mesh they could somehow prove that they could amp their individuals' speed.

oh and a quick ps -- the speed cap for ANY non-power-meshed character is SUB-LIGHTSPEED. you can come infinitely close to it, but you could not REACH lightspeed.

Hmm...

Then that brings up another question.

Is the ability to go beyond the single character caps based on it being feasible that one component of the amalgamation would increase the other's ability through combining abilities, or is it simply that if a character is amalgamated it's no longer limited by the caps?

For instance, if I mixed Flash (capped at sub-light [99.9%]) with The Joker, a character who does not posess any abilities which would augment Flash's speed whatsoever, would I still be allowed to operate beyond light speed simply due to being meshed, or would their need to be a viable enabler that the meshed character brings to the table [for example, a character who's ability is to amplify his/her own base stats by a factor of 10, meaning 10 x 99.9(C)]?

Was this ever addressed formally in the rules?

no... you'd need both characters to bring something to the table... i think.

Ok folks this si where we are at. My computer started to act up about an hour ago.

I just now got it back working.

I have received most of Pools A's OP except for one that person is sending it in soon.

I have yet to get any from Pool B with that though I am gonna go ahead and push back the opening time for both matches until 9:00.

Then Pool A is going up. We will wait and see on Pool B cause I was talking to someone.

you have mine right? if not i can always re-send it.

the way it was explained to me is that you need to be able to use one character's ability to plausibly increase the speed of another character. if you merged terrax and frankie raye, they are still capped at sub-c.

no. the meshing itself is what is needed to allow you to break the speed cap.

yes, it was in the discussion forum somewhere i believe. i made sure to get clarification from red when i decided i wanted to draft savitar with vulcan. you can exceed caps by viable meshing, and no other means. least that's how i had it explained to me.

Is it posted in this discussion thread, or was it just via PMs?

It would really help if Red was around to clarify that part.

A consolidated list of all the rules wouldn't hurt either.

i think it was a little of both. in any event, at the start of the tourney, everyone was aware of the sub-c speed cap, and everyone knew there was no limits placed on amalgams, so i don't think it was an issue. just that everyone was looking for great 'power-meshes' as opposed to great 'speed-meshes'.

well, almost everyone. 🙂

i'll be ready in a few mins, just finishing mine up...

OK then Battle Locations and prep times

Pool A:
Locations: Welcome to the frozen planet of Nimoy. A planet made completely of ice with many tunnels and caverns littering it's inside. It's core is a giant hole in the planet. It is 200 miles wide. The planet is twice the size of Earth. Water mines dot the planet using plasma generators to melt the ice and ship it to other planets for use. It often said even emotions become frozen here. In reality though it is only the molecules of the people brave enough to face it's almost absolute zero temperatures. Unfortunately the high death total, and high expense to get the water eventually drove the miners to abandon it.

Prep Time: 1 Week

Pool B:
Location: You guy's get to go down into the planet of HawtAzHail. The giant brimstone planet in the middle of six suns, with a dense atmosphere that is as dark as the Blackest Night. The heat is so intense that 50 percent of the surface is molten or near molten rock. Rivers of Lava flow freely. In fact the entirety of inner planet is nothing but hot liquidated minerals. Many a ship in dire straits have fallen victim to the allure of a breathable atmosphere only to end up as parts of the landscape. Their engines fried upon entering the atmosphere. That's what happens when the surface is half as hot as a sun.

Prep Time: 5 Months

On another note guys. Akuki has informed that he will be dropping fro mthe tourney. I leave it up to you guys to decide whether you wish to continue as is?

This entire time I thought I was by myself.

Now it turns out I'm with Bran.

Dang.

done, and sent... thank f*ck for that...

Ok then Pool A is up.

I'm gonna go ahead and delay putting Pool B up for now cause Bran hasn't gotten an OP in to me yet. Normally this would mean his prep is forfeit but since he was having computer troubles and such I'm gonna give him tow days to at least get into contact with me.
