That's wrong. Thanos was immortal. But you're right, he's not a god, and he operates on a different level than DS.
Darkseid projected himself from the Source Wall. Once, he animated a giant statue of himself and claimed the power required to do that was more energy than Apokolips used in an entire year.

Darkseid survived. His opponent was a being that takes exploding suneaters, splits and pushes moons, travels faster than light, and has on two accounts faced abstracts (Dominus and Death) and is essential to the universe.
So, with that being said... Darkseid is alot better off.
