Tim Burton indeed had the right idea with Batman making it gothic like he did only he went overboard with it to the point where you could hardly see what was going on in the movie by making it TOO dark.Thats kinda why I prefer Batman Forever over the first two because of two things mainly..1.Kilmer unlike keaton at least looked the part of Bruce Wayne 2.I could actually see what i was looking at for once in a Batman movie during the night scenes.Thats why I really loved Batman Begins because Nolan got the look of gothem just right.Not too dark but not bright either.just perfect.
Agreed about Danny Elfmans score.That and the Batmobile were the only two things that Burton did better than Nolan in his movies.agreed on what you said about the others as well.the other actors were really good also except for Devito as Penguin.Disagree with you there.He was the major cancer of that movie.Not only was he stuid looking as penguin looking nothing at all like him but his acting was just horrible.He did the same thing as Tommy Lee Jones did in Batman Forever.Trying way too hard to be funny but not funny at all.In just about every movie he is in,he's usually always great in those films but he was just plain stupid in this film though. 😘
Thats the thing that bothers me about the next Batman movie is Nolan seems to be following the same footsteps Burton did in his Batman movies.The first one he got the look of the joker right but screwed up on penguin and now Nolan after doing just about everything right in batman begins,has totally screwed up the look of the joker in the upcoming dark knight movie.
I totally agree as well with Mild possession that Halle Berry was a disgrace as catwoman.She is not the gorgeous gal at all that Phieffer is.She was about the worst casting choice possible for that role. 😘
Batman Forever was the downfall of the franchise until Nolan saved it. Everyone in it, except Jim Carrey, was utter tripe. It wasn't like Batman at all, it had none of the Batman feel. It was Batman for the popcorn movie goers, something Mr. Parker hypocritically has a go at Spider-Man for, despite that being ten times more accurate to comic than any of the movies after Batman Returns and before Batman Begins.
The Joker looks awesome in The Dark Knight. He looks unstable, frightening and truly insane. He's not meant to look suave and classy.

It just depends where you come from. Batman Returns will always be a major favourite, although I am extremely happy with NMolan's take on Batman. I look sooo forward to the Dark Knight. I saw the fist six minutes on IMAX... that really tasted like more more more.
I never like Schoemacher's Batman films... weird angles, flashy colors... too popcorny for me.

The proof in the pudding that BATMAN AND ROBIN was the downfall of the franchise "NOT" BATMAN FOREVER is Batman Forever made more money at the box office than Batman Returns did.Returns only grossed around 160 million something where Forever grossed around 180 million.those are FACTS. Batman and Robin bombed at the box office big time at just around 110 to a 120 million THOSE ARE FACTS AS WELL. This is ONE example on why I wont debate with you because I know you'll just come back and not admit you have been proven wrong in your next post sprouting some other lame post like that to support your theorys.

Facts? What facts? This is about taste. In my OPINION and many peoples' opinion, Batman Forever was the start of the quality downfall. There are no facts to disprove that, since it's opinion. The only facts there are depict how successful the movie was, not how liked it was.

You're the one attempting to use sales and gross revenue as a means of determining quality, not me.
I say Batman Forever was the downfall in quality of the franchise, you disagree. Perhaps it's because you needed bright colours and neon, which Batman was never, ever about. Either way, quality decline is opinion, which is what we're discussing.
If you believe how much a movie takes determines how good it is, why do you dislike Spider-Man? It broke every record.
