I was kind of wondering that in Episode I if there were no sith then why wasn't there already balance in the force?

But that's what the prophecy said, but they miss read it and thought that anakin would bring balance to the force by destroying the sith
but it actually meant that he would be on the good side then dark then good again and bring balance that way.
