In American Gangster, there is no directorial imprint and the film suffers for it.
Hopefully Scott tries to pretend to be George Lucas in a few months and announces a Directors Cut that puts me thoughts to shame though. I would like to like American Gangster, but I don't.
I felt that way the first time I saw BHD. It got better the second time.I have that with most of Ridleys films, except KoH... that one still feels kinda empty. But I have to watch AG again, I just watched the extended edition. But it has quite a bit of useless scenes. Need to the theatrical first.
