Her
It’s funny
Seeing things from the past
Looking at things from the future
Like a woman
That I hadn’t seen for over a year
For some reason she was in danger
I don’t remember why
Death was at her embrace
We were in the back of an ambulance when she got close to me
She leaned her head on my shoulder and said,
“I always thought we would be together again.”
Her breath was cold and damp
Like a grave
I could tell she wasn’t herself
I was worried for her and I put my face in my hands
“don’t worry”, she said to me
In a voice as slick as silver
These words were the last I ever expected
I knew then,
I would never have to worry again
