What if Superman actually looked Alien in appearance?

How would the world react to our savior if he'd actually appeared as something completely inhuman?
Would he still be so widely praised and accepted by humanity as its savior?

For example if he looked something like this or even worse!

I think a flashback in TheNail showed a Superman that looked slightly purple when he came out of the pod that brought him to earth.

Kent tried to shoot him before his wife grabbed the shotgun.

If he looked like that, he'd be a very, very different person now.

He wouldn't have been able to be raised with humans. He wouldn't feel the attachment he does.

Who knows how he would have turned out ?

I hardly believe humanity would love him so much if he didn't look like the perfect man.
Even saying some how he was able to be raised by the Kent and then changed to look like something entirely different form us right before he became Superman I still can't see him being anything like he is. And humanity surely wouldn't accept him half as well regardless of his actions.
