Because do you know what? Characters aren't supposed to be stagnant. They're supposed to grow, and change, and develop. Yeah, towards the end of Claremont's run he had Wolverine in a constant state of being underpowered, due to the massive damage he kept inflicting on him, but that wouldn't have lasted forever, any more than Storm's depowering did.

And the first writer that started taking Wolverine's healing beyond where Claremont had gone was Larry Hama, not a fanboy, but a friend and colleague, not to mention the second most influential Wolverine writer of all time.

Go ahead though, keep pretending that time stopped in 1982. Just don't act like it's relevant to the character as he is today.

Hey, if that's your favorite version of Wolverine, rock on, I'm not taking that away from you. However, unless otherwise stated, we aren't using 1982 Wolverine in these threads, we're using the character who has gone through tons of growth in the years since, so the limits he used to have when he was just starting out don't apply anymore, even if the events of those comics still inform his character.

Lol, like you know anything about my fandom. For the record, it's Wolverine's life of failure, and his refusal to stop believing he can be more despite those failures, that is my single favorite aspect of his character. And the 1982 Wolverine mini series is etched as either my all-time #1 or #2, with Weapon X pretty much tied with it as my favorite Wolverine stories.

That being said, while it stands as his single most character defining comic, he is no longer limited to the abilities he displayed back then. Nor should he be, imo, though you are welcome to yours, so long as you acknowledge that it's your preference, not the characters actual state.

Superior Spider-Ock did knock Wolverine out. Not for long but it was a clear cut KO. He was uncouncious long enough for SpOck to talk to the other x-men and examine the giant spiders they were fighting. Wolverine comes to after the giant spiders are down and grabs SpOck from behind while he's distracted. While it is true that some of the scans in this thread need context (like the one with DD for example) there's no reason to downplay every scan posted.

Yost's Logan is one of the very few versions that can be flash ko'd by a bullet bouncing off his skull.

And he grabbed him after Otto's SS went off, Otto wanted to gtfo, but was too slow.

Deadpool knocked him out a few times, at least.

Borderline stomped him with a tranc gun. Face to face, Logan saw it coming. Logan got shot. A lot. (Enough to KO a dinossur, I believe Wade said.)

Mr. X outfought him until Wolverine realized that his psychic abilities were what gave him such an advantage. In the Ultimate Series, Apocalypse / Sinister ripped his arm off which put him completely out of the fight...

I can't recall too many comic book KO's of Wolverine to be honest. Defeats yes, but actual KO's are hard to recall.

X fought Wolverine who had his HF taxed beforehand.

Actually, Ultimate Logan was willing to fight even with one arm, but Apoc turned off his HF and cut his face as a final touch.

Don't know the issue number, but it came out not long ago.

Also, OML =/= 616 Wolverine. His healing is not as good. The method used by Weapon H was very effective, though. No doubt about that.
