Superman as a fighter phails utterly, any REAL LIFE person could kick his ass if he was human.

Superman Prime would kick all other Supermen short of One Million's or Pre-Crisis ass jedi.

Any real life person could beat him lol right, superman when depowered fights on a level near batman and shit he would take a room full of us internet nerds with no diffuculty whatsoever.

But in superman II when he became depowered he got his ass kicked by that trucker dude didn't he? So if he was depowered then wouldn't that mean that he could get his ass kicked?😕

I just don't understand. Why is it every time I see Superman on TV or in movies he is getting his ass whooped. I thought Superman was supposed to one of the best hand to hand combatants (up there with Goku) around. Maybe Supes should think about taking some Karate lessons. Some examples:

beaten by some women

lois put up a better fight (supes is laying on the floor to the bottom left)

superman being skull dragged

on his knees

its because dc has to cater to the masses to gain revenue for the creation of the movie, tv show, etc.

it would be embarrassing for dc if they depicted superman lifting planets and beating his opponents in a tenth of a second in the cartoons/movies because kids these days are more savvy and mature. any 8 year old these days would be turned off by that.

the main weakness of superman: the writers making him a god(as others put it), they created the "too powerful for no reason" problem and only they can fix it.

Superman wouldn't be Superman if he were any less powerful than a God. Superman would also not be Superman if he didnt get his ass beat to the point of near death. So, i guess the contradiciton is a necessity. As a fan of superman. It is always an adrenaline rush to see Superman get his ass beat. This is because i know the more he gets spanked the more triumphant his retaliation will be. Superman never quits. His drive, determination and resilience are of his strongest characteristics. We would never know this if he were never tested physically.

I only wish the writing in the Superman Comics was worth reading. The Superman comics have just recently stopped being ultra corny and childish. I think with good writing, Superman could be one of the most interesting comics on the mainstream or independent market. I am not saying this just as a fan, because i think he is currently one of the most lame.

By recently you mean....

Somewhere around thirty years now?

The 'corny' and 'childish' comics were almost exclusively pre-COIE, and even the couple years leading up to COIE were notably more serious.

The work by kurt busiek and Brian Azzarello was good. I'm forgetting another writer, he was responsible for, i believe it was tomorrow people. Other than that i have to turn to the graphic novels for a mature Superman.

Spite thread. Fail.
There are logical reasons behind all the scans you posted at the start, and they've already been answered.

I thought you were going to ask legitimate questions about his fighting style - which is mostly passive because he tries to get an enemy to wear themselves down or give up - instead of all this hatin.'
