I suppose you could make your own characters if you gave a good enough background that their true and overall personality could be gleaned.Alternatively, you could create amalgams(or powersets), and note which character provides the 'personality.'

i bet you would have a lot of fun using deadpool as a character! he would make for some interesting story telling . . .i think it is a great idea! unique and interesting
Even better; my amalgam idea.
Use Deadpool as the personality, and give him the powerset of a Green Lantern or some such.
I like this idea alot.. 👆
You could even make a established character needs a sidekick tourney
One established character and one made up...you could play off alot of characters good and bad points..how did they meet and why did the established character agree
It brings to mind the new frontier cartoon, where we se batman scare a little child while trying to rescue him and soon after he has a sidekick...its the how and why he got his sidekick(from that writers point of view)...then they have to battle someone elses established character and sidekick
Write a story about how and why an established character gets a sidekick-include bio of new character( no contest yet, give shy and uncertain posters a way to be creative)
Then judges take the best of the pool and those are included in matches until there is two teams, they fight for the championship
This was just off the top of my head...just excited about the idea 😄
I also love the amagalm idea

I was reading gundam's opening post in his match with Kandy and it inspired something of a new idea. What if we have a tourney where the focus isn't really on how powerful the characters involved are, but rather the storytelling talents of the people controlling them? I don't mean right now of course because there's more than enough tourney activity going on as it is, I just wanted to get the discussion going that way everyone can contribute ideas so that when we ARE ready we'll all already have a good idea of what's expected.Basically I was thinking that the participants would write up bio's for a completely new characters and then have them square off with each other. In each match the participants will write out just how they see the fight going between the two characters, using the bio's as a rough guide to each characters abilities. The actual debating will be each person trying to convince the judges that THEIR story is a more accurate portrayal of the characters.
Since each match is actually about the overall story rather than the results of the fights themselves, which character would actually win doesn't matter so you could have your own character lose the fight in the story you submit, but still win the match if the judges agree with your story more.
I haven't put a lot of thought into the specifics yet but it seems like it could be really fun depending on who all got involved.
sounds good... i'm in... 👆
Still say battlezone's the right place for stuff like this. I love the concept, wouldn't even mind participating, but we all see how hard it is to maintain participants in normal tourneys...it would be even harder for something like this. You might get lucky the first go-around, but once it wears out its novelty tag, even the most dedicated would struggle with it.
