Well the Norse Gods apparently were the cause of the Dinosaurs distruction, so perhaps it's tied into that as man was free to walk the world and given the chance to live

That's like the fifth 'definitive origin of man" Marvel comics has shown me.

And it's about as likely as any of the other ones to be developed and used in the future.
