DVD Decoder

I have a new laptop. It has windows Vista Home Basic on it. When I try to play a DVD on it a message pops up that I do not have a DVD Decoder. Does anyone know where to get a free version of the DVD decoder?

For future reference, for other looking for DVD playback, you can use the open source (free) VLC to play DVDs.

or you could rip them. handbrake works like a ****ing charm. dvd to avi.
