The fact that Superman layed out Thor with just that much damage when Thor has taken planet shattering/destroying attacks, unharmed is stupid. His tanked shots from a pissed Galactus, Odin, Celestials. His taken the power of an exploding Sun to the face unharmed. With his level of durability that was just plain stupid.
Superman stopping Mjolnir with one hand? That was just stupid as well, seeing as what striking force Thor can back behind it. The Thor lite Beta Ray Bill, annihilated a planet with the simple shock wave created by a single blow.
Thor being so damaged by Superman's heat vision? Are you serious? That was also just plain dumb.
Do you honestly think Thor was portrayed fairly in that issue? Don't kid yourself.
Although the moment I heard Superman and Thor were gonna fight, I had already guessed the outcome. Thor jobbing was no surprise.
You're lucky it's late, or I would write an entire essay on what I found wrong with that fight, and why we should not use it as evidence.
Originally posted by shokosugicause DC and marvel decided of course to always let superman win. having superman getting beat by a marvel character would be to painful for DC. that one crossover i didn't agree to what so ever was the one where wonder woman took out juggernaut easy. he didn't even get to lay a hand on her that made him look bad big time. marvel never should have agreed to that.
Thor got owned by Supes and that is it. end of debate.
A couple of years ago I had the same discussion involving the original JLA/Avengers Crossover. I posted articles which a lot of I can longer find involving the true story behind the original storyline that was canceled due to disagreements between both EICs.http://vu.morrissey-solo.com/moz/perez/info/jla-aven1.htm
There were supposed to be multiple fights between Thor and Superman. One was going to be in Galactus' Spaceship. I would've loved to have seen that. Jim Shooter wanted Thor to beat Superman and that was the main reason that DC canceled the series. There were also disagreements between secondary character's outcomes, but Shooter REFUSED to have Thor lose to Superman as DC wanted. Instead, DC trashed Shooter depicting him as unfriendly in their negotiations and the story never took place.
Kurt Busiek, even as a Marvel writer has never depicted Thor in good light. The guy is a very flawed writer and I hope he never touches Thor again. I blame Quesada for Thor's loss to Superman, no one else.
