This is something out of this thread, my analysis:
In a way i consider Marvel quite smart. They gave power grid stats for their characters, this really get the fans going arguements that tainted with fanboyism for some. But to say DC make their character super powerful is not quite true! Let's take the strength characters of both sides. Superman is beyond class100(max 250 000 ton). That make him look lot more stronger than most marvel strong guys. But that is not true. Marvel strongest come in the range of INCALCULABLE, beyond class 100, excess of 100 tons. But lot of fans see the limit as 100 tons not knowing that the limit is not 100 tons and not stated. Isn't Marvel smart? The thing is Marvel lets their Heroes get beaten up. DC don't really, DC's prob here is they give their heroes too much respect and at times it goes overboard.
