That's odd. All statistics seem to indicate an increase in population basically everywhere.

Not here. Trust me. The murder rate passed 300 in the first four months of the year- the highest it's ever been. And it keeps getting worse.

Edit: And the increasing population elsewhere is the point: more and more people populate the earth, yet they do nothing to preserve it.

No actually, you should read carefully. I asked you why you think it is headed for disaster and your answer is "But I do know quite enough to be able to rationally deduce that it is headed for a considerable plunge if people don't stop some of the shit they are doing." which, as we can all "rationally deduce" is not an answer at all, but repeating the point again.
