Good horror movie, even while it's uses the recently over-exploited 'handycam view'. Great atmosphere and build-up and some gnarly scares, although non as scary as the swiftness hollywood displayed remaking this...

You Americans get a really shitty DVD cover for this release with stupid font on the front saying "The movie that inspired Quarantine", urgh.

Order it from another country, full of extras.

Ugh, please tell me it doesn't say that?!

Particularly since it didn't inspire Quarantine - it was copied in entirety.

Except for the stuff that made [REC] good apparently. Like non irritating cast members and well directed camera work.

It does Lil, on the cover I saw for Region 1. 😛

Is with movie worth a blind buy, MP? It comes out soon here in America.

If you mean [REC], then yes. 🙂

Yes, that's what I meant; little typo there.

But thanks, I might pick it up then!

Just got this, it was good but it has a stupid ending.

I do must say it has a perfect run time at hr 1 15 min.

What do you mean it has a stupid ending?! it's one of the best endings I've seen in a horror film lately. Very creepy.

Well, I wont go into detail because of the others that have not seen it yet. But it was too quick, like bamn then the credits start rolling. I wanted to find out more...

Well that doesn't make it stupid. There is a sequel out soon, so you will find out a bit more.

Trailer for [REC] 2.

Umm... interesting.

I liked the swiftness of the ending. Particulary because you have 2 minutes max to figure out what happened there before - and then climax. Just brilliant.

Finally saw this movie over the weekend.

Yes, very good. Extremely intense and the ending was amazing and one of the creepiest things I've seen in a long time.

I do wish though that I'd not seen Quarantine prior to this, but oh well, this one was better.

I have no sympathy for you. 😛

A new trailer for the sequel:

I finally saw this movie. It was pretty good, nothing amazing, but certainly entertaining. Not that it wouldn't have been predictable anyway, but I'm upset that the commercials for the US remake showed how it ends taking away that little element of surprise. There should be a rule about show the final seconds of a movie in trailers.

A third REC?

At the TIFF Midnight Madness premiere of REC 2, Spanish directors Jaume Balaguero and Paco Plaza were on hand to introduce the sequel to their groundbreaking horror film that has already spawned a remake. While the sequel is arriving in Spanish theaters next month, the duo reveal that they are already thinking about doing a third. "We swore we wouldn't make second one," Paco Plaza jokes after explaining how they swore up and down they would never continue the story, "but I think we want to make it. Maybe next year we are here with a third? I don't know."

More on a third film and a possible Vampire film from the makers of [REC]:

Jaume Balaguero and Paco Plaza teased that a third REC might happen, but they won't direct. “It’s impossible not to think about a sequel because in making the film we spent a lot of time together,” Plaza exclaims. “I still don’t think we are going to make it,” adding, “But we do have some ideas.” Plaza also explained that Filmax doesn’t need their permission to greenlit a third film, but they’d be involved at some capacity. “They don’t need our permission…we’ll probably well be involved as credit producer or executive producer.”

In addition, Plaza is working on a new vampire film, which is based on a short he did for the internet. "I'm working on a little projected called DAMNED FRIDAY, because a friend asked us to shoot some fake trailers for a contest in Spain," he said. "We each shot one and I shot one for a vampire film called DAMNED FRIDAY." "When I see the trailer I say ‘Id like to go and see this film,' I am now developing this script and hopefully I shoot it. "

Keeping his lips closed, Plaza only reveals this small morsel of info about the film, "Someone becomes a vampire without believing in vampires," adding that it's "very realistic.” "Are you familiar with LET THE RIGHT ONE IN? I love that one. As a vampire fan, I like the films that bring something different or a new angle, and that’s what I try and do. REC 2 arrives in Spain next month, with a US release coming via Sony Home Entertainment some time next year.
