I'll first point out, there are many who "think" themselves to be Jedi and Sith, which this is what you can call "sad". Not about being from a movie, no... but rather the claimed Jedi actually creating their own notions of the religion, making it far different than the orthodox version; and these claimed Sith whom either claim Palpatine to be a real god (literally) or claiming they possess lightening.
These religions can in fact exist, but do not exist in this time. Ask yourself, where did Lucas get the ideas of these religions? You will even come down to, Whom gave Lucas the ideals of these religions? Perhaps even, which everyday religions developed the Jedi and Sith beliefs?
To also state, the Force does exist. Yet you all take it into a question and out comes an opinionated answer to best fit your question. To state there is no Force, is saying there is no God/Allah.. depending on your oppinionated thoughts and religion, you can also say there are no spiritual beings, no witchery, no Heaven nor Hell. The Force is different than these? Ah, you have much more to learn if you state this.
So if you claim the Jedi and Sith religions to be "sad" simply because they were introduced in a fanfilm, then I can state many ways your own religion is considered false, contradictive and asinine. To avoid this, seek what I have said, do not be ignorant and foolish.

I will not come to this post nor web site again.
I agree, I mean many of these religions were basically made-up by the men of their times. They mostly wrote it and claimed 'divine inspiration' or better yet 'God wrote it'.
The greeks myths are closer to the truth than many realize. Yet again made up by men to explain the world and also to probably fantasize about the ideal state of existence.

So zeus banged us into the universe according to you. your religion is sad as well. and if your an athiest, well, as someone once so appropriately put it:
Either you're the masterpiece of a master mind,
Or your an accident of hydrogen gas.
