Yeah? I mean, not even spoiler tags? or a warning?
I saw it, I thought it was better than generally released horror. I think the best part was the last ten minutes. I haven't seen the original though, which apparently handled the back story much better. Jennifer Carpenter did really well again too, but not like in 'Emily Rose'.
Thread in the horror section about this film. Nowhere near as good as the original [REC] for those of you who don't know. Strange to see and original and the American remake both come out within months of each other though.
The difference between the two in terms of effectiveness is that the original's camera work was deliberate. Despite all the shaking etc, you still got to see exactly what the director wanted you to see. The remake is just random and pointless and you miss a lot of the action because of it. The panic from the characters in the original is also more believable and less annoying.
i liked the first half of Quarantine a lot. Somewhere a long the line everyone got very stupid, though. I know you are going to have stupid moments in horror movies. Whether thats due to shotty writing or what ever , i believe some of the decisions the characters made in, quarantine hurt the movie. I enjoyed the characters and thought the acting was very convincing for the most part but the movie definitely fell apart towards the end for me. I still dig it, though. I think Rec is the superior movie but i too, prefer Quarantine.
Although, i think i prefer Quarantine because it had a more stable camera. I'm never one to complain about shakey cams in movies but, Rec got to me a little bit. However, i'm still not sure if i was nauseated from the shakey camera or just overly tense from the constant anticipation...,Maybe both, hmm :/
Rec had a far better setting, too.
Yeah, you know...,i NEVER get sick from shakey cams. So, i'm thinking that it was the crafting which made me feel nauseated. You know, Claustrophobia is a better description for what i'm trying to convey. Hmmm, i need to watch Rec again. Maybe it is more brilliant than i had realized..., 😕
Quarantine felt more safe. If the people didn't get a case of dumbassness they could have easily gotten out of that situation alive.
