A calm wind spread across the area, it was a synthetic wind, one that you could tell was pushed by the giant fans spread all across the district. Jacob stood with six other members of his squad. They all stood over map that was set up on an ammo crate. A cigarette hung from Jacob's mouth as he studied over the map. Red marks covered the map, and marked the placement of his own troops. "How defended is our perimeter?" One of the other six looked over. "Well, sir. Nothing can get by us without being seen by one of our groups." Jacob nodded as a smile slid across his face. "Looks like we just sit back and wait for us to be cleared. I'll be going out to the bridge to survey the area, see if we need to double out guard. There are a hell of a lot more civilians on the other side." A soldier that was standing with a group of about eight others leaned in for a second. "Sir, if it's alright with you, I'll take my team and clear out the buildings within our perimeter." Jacob thought for a moment. "Well, Sergeant, you've got my orders to do so. Get to it Marine! We founded this station, we're sure as hell going to keep!"
Jacob looked over to Kayla. "That'd be me. Lieutenant Commander as of ten minutes ago." He then looked over to Carlos. "That depends on how close they are and if they were infected." Marines were all around kicking doors in and pulling out groups of people. Most of the people looked frightened but knew not to try and challenge the already jumpy marines. Jacob thought for a moment and then flicked the cigarette out into the street. "What the hell, I'm in."
david smiled. "let's do this then." as they arrived at the security gate he turned back. "listen up team, 2 or more men are behind these walls defending themselves from the infected. from what they've told me over comms, they're holed up in a lobby just 100 meters from the second gate. we've got to go in, retrieve them, drop a radar node, and clear out before the infecteds get to the gates." he cocked his rifle and slung it over his shoulders, the strab keeping it from flying away. "so who else wants to join us. the more the bloodier i always say." he grinned widely under his helmet.
((*comic twist not actually part of the post* suddenly he suffered a massive bowl movement. unfortunately his suits colon filter made it sound much deeper and louder than it actually was. not only that but everyone back at base heard it over comms. *truly humiliating* ))
"I'll go with you"Kayla walked up to him. "They may need medical attention."She looked down at the gun."I just need to stick with you at all cost...I'm not the best shooter.Besides, I'm not sure how many bullets this thing can hold."
" Lieutenant! I know I'm not under your force but I'm requesting permission to help with they recon mission of your men."
Jacob moved in ahead of the rest of the soldiers and made his way down a dark alley way. He began to set up a beacon, so that his troops could follow his position. While he was setting up the frequency, a voice came from behind him. "Light, good to see your not dead." A slight chuckle came from Jacob. "As well to you, Vengeance." Without a second of hesitation, Jacob spun around with his combat knife drawn, slicing at his feet. Vengeance stepped on Jacob's hand and brought his other foot into Jacob's face, sending him flying. "Still no where near as good as me, like always." Jacob jumped back onto his feet from his back and raised his fists. "Come on, Light, use 'your' knife. Not this Marine issue crap." Jacob put his hand into a small leather satchel on his lg and removed a large, long knife, and the handle was in the shape of a Dragon. The dragon's eye was a Diamond. Vengeance pulled out a similar knife, but the dragon, had an amnythist as the eye. Vengeance charged Jacob with his knife drawn. Jacob responded with a narrow dodge and brought his own knife up. Vengeance left the ground as he jumped over Jacob, forcing his knife into the wall, to lift himself up. Jacob attempted to respond, but was stopped by Vengeance's boot once again. Jacob hit the ground like a socket wrench, but drew his side arm. Vengeance turned around and faced Jacob. "Oh Vengeance, I don't play fair anymore." Jacob pulled the trigger twice, before his hand was pinned to the wall by his Marine knife. Vengeance fled the scene holding his shoulder, escaping into darkness.
david stopped outside of the 2nd gate. as jacobs soldiers left, carlos closed the first gate but left the second open. jackson pulled up his hacker light machine gun. david turned to them both. "a;right team, uploading locations of the survivors to your hud." both of their acknowledgement lights blinked green to indicate that they had gotten it. "the infected are attacking from all sides of the building, so we need to get there from above." carlos light blinked red. "but won't there be infected in the building?" david smiled. "but thei'll be focusing on the survivors, so we'll go in unnoticed and slice right through, but first." he changed his comm frequency to jacobs. "luetenant, you do realize their is still a population of fixers in this area, all uninfected, don't you?"
The officer spoke to his commisioner then returned to find Exene Vadana had finished with the hazard scan. He tapped her on the shoulder. "You needed a guide, miss." He smiled and looked her over. She was about his height though her body was stella, actually the correct word was 'interstella' but he wasnt concerned. "Shall we.." He gestured towards an elevator leading up to the less crouded overhangs and several garden areas which cut across the crowds of scanees'.
Jacob moved ahead of all of the other soldiers and tried his best to stay out of the view of the security cameras. When he felt that he was far enough away from the other soldiers, he leaned up against the wall and surveyed his situation. "Unknown amount of the outbreak, which means we can never one-hundred percent sure that we got all of them.. I guess we'll just take as man-" Jacob hit the ground as a spray of flood hit the wall, and an infected slammed to the ground. The shot had come from the bridge up ahead, and he instantly knew who fired it. "Roberts! When did you get transfered to Mars?" A female voice came through over the other line. "Two years ago, baby. When you resigned from the team, the new leader put us into too much danger, so we all resigned and got transfers."
Exene turned and smiled sweetly. "Hey you. Yes I would love a guide, if you're not busy." She smiled and looked him up and down as well, turning to walk beside him. Other then the greeting she said nothing. She was still shy, just like she was on earth. But she was trying hard to think of something to say, or build up the courage to. She was blushing brightly as she walked beside him. Eventually she stopped nibbling on her lower lip to finally say something to him. "I.. um.. I never caught your name back there. You asked for mine but I forgot to get yours."
