The Official Q&A/Discussion on Physics.

Ok I am far from the reining authority regarding Physics. I mostly follow Marvel’s interpretation(s) (huge emphasis on the S.) but boy what a fan boy have I become. Because of that, I will not try to just give into my interpretations, but be open to suggestions, ideas and theories. So this isn’t my thread, its our thread. And WE will try to cover other medias, and attempt to structuralize this power set and its mythos.

Ok, I will start off.

do you think a web fluid will or could ever be invented? and if so do you think it would be able to work in the same way Spidey uses it ? so compact and strong?

Don't we already have a thread like this?

dunno...do we?😂

I suppose it's possible. You should see some of the non-lethal deterrants people are developing for crowd control.

if i understand it correctly, the web in the cartridges is fluid, but becomes an elastic solid when it's shot out. that's the general opposite of how things work in our world, with most compressed liquids becoming a misty gas/liquid. i suppose the unique properties of the fluid itself could attribute to that, but the sheer expansion of the relatively small amount of liquid to the large mass of solid webbing seems impossible. also, how does the nozzle of the shooters not become clogged when the fluid's oxidized?

if anything similar were to be invented [silly string with oomph,] it'd likely not be in nearly the same proportions or with the same properties. but i suppose with he recent ridiculous advances in our sciences, it's within the realm of possibility.

So basically right now we are no way capable of making a "web shooter",well at least not so small for the amount of web that comes out.
but maybe in the future we shall see🙂

if they could cleanly combine silly string with super glue with the volumetric difference between in-bottle and out-of-bottle found in most aerosol cans, maybe we could. seems unlikely.

Silly String PWNS😛

OK so what's next?

how about the metals....Vibranium and Adamantium?

could we ever have such strong and durable metals?

A physics thread about comics.

😂

Also, there was a thread about this already, discussing what might be possible from comics in the real world.

A cookie to whoever digs it up.

You should read up on Golden Orb Web Spider.

And spider silk
http://www.earthlife.net/chelicerata/silk.html

The problem I have heard, is that its simply impractical . Come up with a substance that solidifies upon air contact, sticks and holds the weight of an average Joe is a task. But make it compact like the web shooters cartridges, and mandible enough for routine exercise is vary unreasonable.

Well yeah it highly impractical for a few reasons.

solidifying in air isn't as a big as problem as people think. Spiders do it with their silk. The big problem is making something strong that can be of practical use. Most silk that can be made from it is easy to tear, takes a lot to produce and is just generally a pain in the butt to try and make practical.
