The New Authority Respect Thread

This thread focuses solely on members of The Authority. But it covers all of their Stormwatch appearances, every Authority issue that has come out so far, as well as crossovers and solo runs. Anyone familiar with the old thread will notice large additions to every character, more than double the material in some cases. While I doubt any thread can make the claim of totally comprehensive coverage of a character, this should have every worthwhile appearance and feat ever for the Authority to this point.

Notes:
1. This thread is broken into sections based on the characters.
2. This is merely feats. For anyone unfamiliar with these characters, I’d recommend picking up something of The Authority. They’re Wildstorm comics (owned by DC) and are sweet as hell.
3. My thanks to anyone who contributed scans. Particularly Charlotte DeBel, who contributed more than half of the material for Jack Hawksmoor.
4. This includes all Authority appearances up through May ’08, except for anything past issue #7 in Midnighter’s solo series. Periodic updates will occur to ensure that all relevant feats are posted. I'm not planning any large-scale renovations again after this, or new threads, so it will be incremental instead of large additions.
5. The Wildstorm wiki site I use for bios is a great resource for appearances, and contains accurate though occasionally incomplete info on all the characters. Overall, I felt it was a better site for the Authority than others that exist.
6. Enjoy! There’s scattered respect threads better than this one, but this is an example of how to do one well.

Description: Basically a Superman type. Uber-charged, he’s probably on par with the big guy, but otherwise a bit lower.

Crashes into a space station with a “docking bay the size of a continent”. Judging by that, it’s probably the size of a small planet. He doesn’t destroy it completely, but the size of the explosion is telling and impressive.

This is from “Countdown: Arena” when Monarch was building his army. An Apollo from Earth-51 (Wildstorm Universe) takes part. He loses his match but we find out he lives. Since Wildstorm itself is a multiverse this may be an alternate Apollo, since I really can’t see how it would fit into WS continuity since he’s in the Monarch’s custody for a while (or maybe they just didn’t care about continuity). Anyway, here he is telling us he can see a grain of sand from space…not bad in the vision department.

A fight with a telepath who gains the strength of those he controls. By this point, he had taken over roughly 70% of the population of Earth, and had previously punched Apollo around the world (before he was charged a bunch). So saying he’s Class Million+ probably isn’t an exaggeration. Apollo also lifts and topples a skyscraper that was taller than any building in Los Angeles.

I feel like I need to say some things before these next scans...
Apollo "loses" his first encounter with Captain Atom. He was dominating the exchange, but then CA tricked him into going near the sun so that CA could use his matter manip. to give Apollo a fatal dose of his own power.

Keeping that in mind...

About a page after "losing" to CA, Apollo ignores a direct blast from him. The same one that floored Majestic earlier in the arc.

Here's where they trigger the Void inside CA and everything is destroyed. But we see that Apollo's heat vision can crack CA ultra-tough skin:

So.

In normal circumstances (away from the sun), all we see is CA getting tooled, even with his upgrades. I’m not saying Apollo’s > Captain Atom, but it’s something to think about.

II. The Midnighter

Description: Can run millions of combat variations through his head before a fight even starts, and has implants that allow him to see the enhancements other people have. Also has slightly enhanced strength/healing/agility/etc. Generally just a supreme badass.

A mixed feat. Here he informs us that his implants are protected from outside tampering, and Jackson King’s inability to affect them confirms this. King is clever enough to negate his implants another way (which allow him to run his combat scenarios), though my opinion is that it would take a telepath with fairly detailed knowledge of how MN’ers powers work in order to accomplish this feat.

…btw, MN’er still performs well in the fight after this neutering of his implants. The calculations help, but he’s still very deadly without them.

Midnighter continued…

A deceptively psychotic feat. After being ambushed, he removes one of his own teeth with his tongue and spits it at a guy. The shocking part comes when the tooth does more to a concrete pillar than a hail of bullets would.

This is Midnighter’s stylish and quick pwning of a speedster named Impetus (I think). The first few scans are what Amaze was doing prior to MN’er taking him out…which is basically tooling a lot of people on both the Authority and Stormwatch. With Jenny and Doctor not available, MN’er was the only one capable of dealing with him. A great reflexes feat.

This one is fairly impressive. Along with creating numerous multiple selves (we’ve seen about 20-30 as a maximum limit for her) she creates an array of solar panels to ward off fireballs from space.

So let the apathy commence. But I'm excited, and won't ever have to do much in the way of research and back-issue digging to find Authority stuff at this point, so updates from now on will be small and painless. There's about 130 more scans than the old thread, and updated bio/pic/info sections, so for fans of the Authority who read the old one, there's some new material for nearly every character.

The most new material (and # of scans total) is for MN'er, Angie, and Hawksmoor. The newer characters (Rose, Habib, Jenny Q) are still lagging a bit in appearances and scans. It'll be another probably 3-5 years before their appearances, and thus feats, catch up. Jeroen and Jenny S. are essentially done, barring a missed scan or two, so their sections are the only ones that we can pretty much call officially closed.
