I've always thought the Darkness would make the perfect herald.
Power Cosmic grants the Darkness complete mastery over the entire light spectrum, which means all the creations of the darkness are now impervious to light and can in fact continuously exist in space.
darkness himself would draw ambient energy from dark matter, which is conjectured to comprise most of the known universe's mass.
creation of minions, creation of planetary bodies to temporarily satiate hunger, creation of various craft/tech/weaponry is made possible by cosmic awareness, which would allow molecular perception and understanding of how to engineer almost any device at whim, created of course by the darkness power.
in essence, with the addition of the power cosmic the darkness can now wield the full powers of creation available to it, without the susceptibility to light, combined with the cosmic awareness and knowledge to create anything at will.
Motherbox- I'd give it a human form and amp it's powers. It would literally be able to boom tube anywhere and find me food. It's cosmic magical technical senses would be uber and would be able to with stand any techno or physical assualt from any planets trying to defend themselves.
The Atom- Imagine This guy will all of silver surfer's powers. He would be impossible to get a bead on and beat. He'd be able to go inside anyone and just much them up in all kinds of nasty ways.
Black Bolt- He would be my enforcer to take no prisoners. That scream and strength amped. He could draw cosmic energy and that ionic energy and combine them for a kind of galactic master blow. He could kill gods with it.
Invisible Woman- Amping her abilities to cosmic lvls and then giving her uber durability and other powers assures that she would be one tough girl to take down. force fields backed by the power cosmic on top of that uber durability.
Doomsday. The Body Gaurd. He'd be smart, have his adaptive powers plus power cosmic. He could adapt himself by changing the envireonment around him just so that he's forced to adapt and grow even more powerful.
Multiple Man aka Infinity- Surfer level Power Cosmic, ability to clone himself dozens of times and each clone would be around Iron Man/Namor level. Also each clone would be able to operate independently...indefinitely (however the primary would still maintain a form of mind control).
The primary clone would also know and see everything everyone of his clones sees and does at the same time. He would also be able to recall his clones via teleportation from anywhere in the universe regardless of distance if he needed some aid.
Frank Castle aka Arsenal - Height and weight increase to around Hulk level, Grant him some cool looking Power Armor with a Human Skull breast plate, Alien skull shoulder guards and helmet; the armor would also be apart of him like another layer of skin. Power cosmic, Strength, speed etc, with the only stip being he would not be able to fire blast from his hands or eyes, his armor would first have to form into the weapon of choice and then fire not all unlike Apocolypse.
His armor would have the spacial ability to replicate other weapons for later use. Therefore he has weaponry from all across the universe from a myriad of races for his use.

Dark Angel - amp'd with the PC. Herald of Doom
Hyperstorm- Only sent out as a last resort or just to mess with peoples heads. Even without PC is awesome, throw that on top of'em and woah.
Animal Vegetable and Mineral Man- Not sure how well he'd hold up, but give him enough power he may be able to provide more than just laughs. Herald of Humor
Doctor Doomsday- As the Herald General he would use his vast tech to augment normal humans with super powers and send them in to do my bidding. I'd also probably spend time just killing him in different ways just to build up his res.
Mordru- Herald of the Future, I'd remove his pesky "buried alive" fear and amp his magical powers to the limit and set him loose to start expanding the empire.

The thread topic is to create your own herald based on an existing character. Do you even know who the Darkness is?
Not to mention there is already a herald of Galactus whose powers stem from DARK MATTER
