Yes, it's true, tree huggers love this sort of bull, however there are many people who hunt to get by in life, they also fish. Isn't fishing cruel also then? All those innocent fish....
well, I don't do either. And I'm not a stereotype 'tree hugger'. I'm not syaing I outright disagree with hunting, I'm saying I don't understand why a so called 'civilised' human would want to kill something for enjoyment. It's a very bloodthirsty mentality.

others do it to eat and survive
this form of hunting I agree with, and I support independant hunting over commercially sold meat.

Fishing is a sport, guns and ammo are sold in sporting good stores, it's considered a sport. Some do it for trophies, others do it to eat and survive and isn't it a sport in England?
Doing it to survive is different, I already covered that.

They sell tents and toilet paper in sporting goods stores too, but crapping and camping isnt a sport.

Doing it for trophies is not a sport, it's needless killing of an innocent animal.

I aint from England.

Guess it all dates back to the days of cavemen wanting to show they're alpha males, us humans at times need something to show our abilities as men.

Back in olden days the English used to go out on fox hunts, and it's like, wtf? You can't eat a fox....

However, for the poor family in Alaska who make their living off fish and the natives of other countries who rely on hunting, it isn't wrong.

People who do it for a living are doing it to survive, as I said, thats a different story.

Yeah, you can eat a fox if you are hungry enough.

Cavemen had no stores to go to, therefore they had to kill to survive.

Japan has certain game shows where people have to hold in pooping to win money, that's sort of a sport.

Also, hunting to survive is not a sport, hunting for no personal gain is a sport, it's what civilization labeled it, and that's how things are. Talk to the NRA about this.

I think a better way to show we're 'men' is by actually doing something worthwhile...

And middle class English people still go fox hunting, but it's generally been banned here.

Hunting is never a sport. Hunting to survive is a necessity.

I would lose horribly on that game show, BTW.

You're missing the point. I meant certain feelings of machismo has to be conveyed. Cavemen used to hunt, the Greeks would wrestle and now hunting and wrestling are both sports that we don't need, but are there to show our place at the top of the food chain.

what sports are "needed" then? share with us, Mr. Cosell.

Obviously, there's plenty, but society won't change.

That's just stupid, but it's still a sport to them.

I think in it's natural habitat, a tiger is most certainly above us in the food chain.

Well, I believe sports in which both sexes can participate in are worthwhile, and don't call me Mr. Cosell.

Tigers have not killed as much as humans. Humans kill the planet, the trees, the animals and eachother, that's deep.

How would I go about proving that if you're not going to believe it? It's just favorited as a sport, a competition.

Humans prize themselves over everything, and it's slowly pushing ourselves and everything else closer to extinction. IMO, at least.

You can link away all day, knock yourself out, but bottom line is it is NOT a sport.

Just because some people do it and think of it as a sport doesnt in fact make it a sport.

That's not true, national rulings have recognized it as a sport, otherwise associations such as these wouldn't exist.
