It doesn't surprise me one bit that this is going to be remade. I guarantee you that this remake won't have even a fraction of the grit of the original version. The MPAA is a bunch of p*ssies who won't let a decent horror flick be made these days.

That said, the original movie it timeless. I own the special edition DVD. The bathtub scene is my favorite.

i've seen a few things on dark horizons that turn out to be total bullshit....i can only hope this is one of them

Heard there's a brutal rape scene in the original. Haven't seen it of course, but from what people have told me, it's pretty gruesome. Think a remake would get near that quality?

The rape is pretty much 45 minutes of a 90 minute movie.

There's a very cringe inducing castration scene.

The original is pretty bad. But it's campy fun. Should see it.

The best rape scene ever is from Irreversible.

It's certainly the most effective and powerful.

I think it's pathetic. The original isn't even out in the UK uncut. There are 7 mins worth of cuts to the rape scenes in the crappy UK version so why now is it ok to go out and make another lame remake about rape and it will most likely get hyped up to the sky about being a real classic or something. I say this on any topic about remakes but damn i ****ing HATE remakes they just shouldn't happen imo.

the original isn't a good film. As Backfire pointed out, it has a camp value but once you've seen it......there's not a great story to keep going back to watch again and again.

It was a low budged movie in the 70s.......it's not a famous movie now........so why waste money remaking it? Might as well make it straight to dvd 'cause nobody's going to go to the theater to watch it.

I haven't even seen the original....doubt I'll see the remake.

The company that got the rights for the remake is a very small company, and they say right now that they are going for a theatrical release, but I think you might end up being right and see the remake go straight to DVD.

i don't think the rape scene would be as bad.
Ya know' all the youngins watching horrors these days.
