I don't understand why, despite Torres having a bottle tournament, then scores a goal that could have been prevented with better defending, the commentators start lubing him up.-AC
A goal which won the tournemant 🤣
Thats the mark of a true striker, important goals.

Second best to who? Ronaldo? When did he become magically better than Adebayor?
He's not a top striker, he did nothing all tournament.

I'm pretty sure had Torres scored less than Adebayor, few people would doubt he's better than the Togoan. Adebayor's goals were generally tap-ins made by good work by his entire team, and he still had an abnormally good season for his standads. Torres meanwhile practically carried LFC at times and scored many goals single-handedly.
Listen to yourself. Who got goal of the season? Adebayor scored lots of amazing goals. I can't remember one by Torres that wasn't kick and rush.
Torres had an abnormally good season by his standards. He never got more than 15 at Madrid.

What striker did Terry and Ferdinand, unprompted, say gave them the most trouble?
Adebayor.
Torres is inconsequential if marked properly and covered properly.
Torres just isn't a better player.

A) As I said, Torres didn't? He had done shit all prior to last, and he benefited from being Liverpool's only other decent player. Gerrard on the ball, *tries through ball to Torres* x 10000.
None of those goals were that good. Show me one better than Adebayor versus Spurs, or Adebayor versus Newcastle. Pace and early shots against mediocre opposition. What happened against Man Utd? Rio brushed his little kick and rush aside like the cheap tactic it is. As did Gallas and Toure until Senderos got involved.
I understand you're a Liverpool fan, and this kind of thing is compulsory, but do try to be reasonable now and then.
I think some of the problem for Liverpool is that Torres being so young is impatient. He doesn't know how to deal with man marking and when he gets shut down for a bit he gets frustrated and starts pouting. At that point he's not even trying his hardest, which removes him from the game further. He's gotta learn to stick through it.
Being an Arsenal fan though, here's to hoping that never happens 🙂
