Euro 2008

So you think the Czechs should have been given some advantage because a Turk pushed the goalkeeper over ?

But the Czechs were at no disadvantage because of what happened as the ball was out of play, so why should the Czechs get some advantage, ie a free kick?

That Turkey are getting punished by loosing a goalkeeper for a couple of games should be enough, although the other keeper Rüştü is probably just as good as Volkan.

I know what you are saying..

I just think for something as blatant as that there should be something given for the opposition. yeah they had a man extra but only for about 1 minute in this case.. not really an advantage there.

Maybe they could have it so for something like this were it was a push in the chest the keeper gets a yellow and then the opposition have a free kick. It will only be a red card then if it is a punch or something realy bad, cause that was nothing really Koller went down like he had been shot.

The ref couldn't, and shouldn't, give anything else. He gave a red, Volkan got sent off. The ball was out of play with a minute left, so just because there was an infringement doesn't mean the Czechs deserved something more than they got.

Well the Czechs didn't get anything.

But I know. Those are the rules, just seems a bit stupid to me.

I doubt Volkan would have pushed him earlier in the game.

Koller came in with a wild challenge, that mixed with the tension because the game was nearly over added to the heated atmosphere.

I doubt Koller would have gone over if he hadn´t wanted to, he did do it a bit theatrical.

Well, the Czechs got 3 minutes against 10 men without a real goalkeeper in the goal. They couldn't make anything of it. But there wasn't actually any harm done anyways.

Personally I think that if a player is stupid enough to do that then the other team should have had a penalty.. A red card isn't enough what advantage did the Czechs have from that.

Should have been at least a free kick if not a penalty in my opinion.

Don't be silly.

Yep Scolari has a short fuse and has clobbered a few people, including the press. This should make things particularly interesting when you consider how annoying & intrusive the English media are.

They were talking about this on radio 5 "football phone in".

So who still thinks Germany can win the EURO 2008.

Ok Ballacks 121 Kmh free kick was well impressive, but the team looks rather dodgy in most areas imo, especially central defense.

Philip Lahm was brilliant last night though, I like attacking right/left backs.

Of course Germany can win it. They have proven pedigree, whereas Holland, Spain et al are renowned bottlers.

I'd like Holland to win it, but as VVD said, they do bottle it. I don't want Portugal to win it, I just don't think the quality of football deserves it. Germany, Spain or Holland, that'd be good and a good final to watch as well.

Germany pedigree?? Their win against Poland was Germany's first victory in the tournament since they beat the Czech Republic to win Euro 96 at Wembley. They won´t get past Portugal imo.

France hat a bit of bad luck last night, first their best offensive player gets injured (Ribery), then a penalty against them and a red card. Talk about an uphill struggle🙂

Löw is banned from doing his job for another game. Really, really odd thing to happen.

Yep Germany have the cards against them. Portugal had a longer rest period especially as they played their "B" team against Switzerland.
Podolski who is having a good tournament so far is injured, and Löw can´t sit on the bench for doing his job, ie giving instructions.

Its the Swedes against the Russkys tonight, I recon Sweden could make it, but it´ll be close.

Come on Sweden.

I have them in a pool 😄

Doesn't look too good for the Swedes.

Yes, pedigree. As opposed to Holland's pedigree of underwhelming everyone.

I was impressed with Russia last night, brilliant fast attacking style. They missed loads of chances though, it could have been 6:0.

Really looking forward to Russia V Netherlands. The Russians better take their chances in that game otherwise they might get stuffed.

Portugal v Germany tonight. Difficult one to predict this.

Portugal are technically the better team but are complacent at times and Nuno Gomez isn´t doing much up front.

Normally I´d say 3:1 to Portugal, but the Germans are lucky in tournaments and might improve as they progress.

Germany are "lucky" in tournaments?

Penalties?
