Go for it. From what I've heard (and seen a bit) the Caribbean has really nice slow breaks. Jamaica looks like an awesomely chilled out place to surf, in many ways.

Don't worry about that, at all. I hate these people who sit at the side of the beach judging others, just go at it; it's about how you feel, if you enjoy it, keep doing it whether it entails looking like an idiot or not. I'd walk around in full clown make up for the rest of my life, if I enjoyed it; f*ck what anyone else thinks.
