Hi, been researching Hollywood, European + Asian film industrys.I had a look at, run lola run, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon and Spider Man 3, Hero, La Vita é Bella and Indiana Jones(good films btw, run lola run was AMAZING!) and theorised that the Asian market will eventually catch up to Hollywood, looking at statistics and stuff.
A Few questions:
1)Do you think Hollywood is dominating the industry or even monopolising the market?
2)Do you think the chinese culture is presented justly in chinese films?
3)Would you go and see a chinese film?
4)When you watch a film like Hero, what do you see in China?
5)Are there many chinese/asian films at the cinema where you are?
6) Do you think the Chinese film industry will ever match Hollywood?
Please answer if you can. This is for a project btw, any comments welcome, thanks guys!

I dont know how Hollywood could monopolise the film industry of a another country, so...,no. Hollywood invests more money into the movie's it makes than any other film industry. Considering that they most always make their investments back, as well as overwhelming profits, is why Hollywood is so dominating. Is Hollywood hindering other countries from making movies? I don't know, but i would highly doubt it.

I guess it depends on the movie. If it is a corny cheeseball martial arts flick (which is made by Chinese filmmakers) Then no. I cannot call very many movies focusing around the Chinese culture, but, Chinese people and Asians in general are being approached with much more respect than they ever have been.

I watch Chinese and Japanese Flicks fairly often. The style of filmmaking is, however, sometimes be to different than what i am accustomed too. Sometimes the movies are to cerebral and others, they are to much of a mish mash of genre's. I will not buy a dvd of a Chinese movie unless i have a recommendation from a friend, they are to expensive.

When i watch a movie like Hero i see a filmmaker trying very hard to impress the idea of honor.

If China invests as much money into their film industry, then yes. As for matching the quality, well, Hollywood doesnt own quality, that relies in the writers, actors and directors.
