"Tell me demon," came a booming voice from behind the ranks, "where were you when these gates were laid to seige by their sworn brothers?" He pointed to the many angels surrounding them, "where were you when a single demon infiltrated their ranks, slaughtered countless, and destroyed more then a single angel could hope to construct?" The angels looked to Aramis in hope for an answer, their faces beginning to lose hope in his words. "Ah, you haven't told them. You were in Hell!" The angel's faces turned from hope to complete surprise an disgust. "You served the Demon Lord, flirted with his wife, and even had relations with a demon pixie!" Whispers of surprise and complete anger began to circulate throughout the angel ranks. "Don't believe me brothers? Look for yourself," and a large white ball shot through his open palm and took the size of Aramis in both height and width. And images began to pour through of Ezekiel's interactions with Satan, Ereshkigal, and his secret relationship with Gean. When all these images subsided, all the angels stood speechless. “Illusions, control?! Are these the words the King of Lies has instructed you to say? What an illusion this is.” The angel’s formed a greater formation as the celestial hovered above their more organized ranks. Their eyes began to glow white and an aurora of fury and vengeance permeated throughout the entire army of all of heaven. They stood uniform and un flinching, their decisions made: they were to go to war. “Now you see, demon. This is a might and power only angels can hold and God bestow them. Such a power by which the furry of God alone has rightfully exacted on man for his disobedience and now comes the call of angels to do the same on their fallen brethren.”
The servants of the Celestial had now woven intricately into the ranks to serve as standing generals and strategist. Also to aide them when too great of demons cut their numbers. The Angels were empowered, nothing any one could say could change their minds. “Go ahead demon, HYPOCRITE” that word carried much of the same feelings as it did when Metatron once said it to Ezekiel, “Strike at them and let us see how much corrupted your soul can become.” He unsheathed a spectacular looking sword filled with writings and sapphires and gems and jewels alike. A black and gold hilt with strips of red. Curved with a black cutting edge he lifted his sword towards Aramis, “This army is mine, this war is ours. We will not yield we will not stop.” A long hate ridden pause filled the silence, “You are not Ezekiel, I am not Metatron.” With that, the angels in a unifying, heaven shaking cry, charged on past Aramis, and burst open the gates of heaven. One of the front line generals took the lead if the possessed Nakir were to attack the ranks.
“Even man takes up his sword to end this war,” He lowered his weapon and stood close to Ezekiel, almost the same in height and width if not a little larger and wider. “Do not think Metatron was so great to grant you the vision to see. Because in that same image did I teach him. And for his existence I let him try. Try to sway the hosts to move, but who stirred? Who heeded his cry? These very angel’s that I have sent to war will not return home. For this is the way it must be: the old must make way to the new.” He pointed to earth, specifically the Vatican to reveal all the cardinals that had gathered and Nex speaking to the leader of the council. “Even death prepares for what is to come.” He passed Aramis allowing him to feel a pulse of his potential, nothing near to what Metatron had mastered, “you may be his pupil, and have mastered yourself. But ignorance breeds bloodshed. And the ignorance of you both has brought upon this massacre. But unlike your parents, child,” he said pointing a finger in disgust, “who sought to live as the cowards they were. When they were called to serve along side me, they fled as did the many countless angels and demons that lived their lives. And in their cowardice, they died. I brought upon their ruin, their demise. Every angel and demon that has brought hybrids to this world I personally rid them from existence. Because though I may have swung the killing blow, it was the orders of your hosts that promulgated them. If it had not been I, it would have been another. At least with me, I will serve to make their deaths the sparks that will spread this revolution to the edges of the universe.” His wings were open wide now as his hands were extended upwards, “you will see, Aramis, the cause for balance is struggle. The grey is not created from the unison of black and white, but from their blood.” And with that, he shot off the ground and took flight with great speed to do away with the demon puppet and personally lead the army to Hell’s gate. Ezekiel stood and thought, as the half-bred led the army of angels and half-bred alike. He looked down at serg.
''Do not worry my friend. Remember I have ordered the gates of Heavens closed and...''
Reaching in his pocket, he held Heaven's door key.
''I have stolen it from Mordreth during the last battle'' he said with a smile. ''No one will pass to the other side without it''.
This time he couldn't help himself but laugh at the situation. Who could have thought that this small item, stolen by a demon, and combined with a personnal charm of Ezekiel, could be the savior of this world.
Verin and serg looked at him.
''Now, we do not have much time. For if the angels are stuck in Heaven, the other half-breed aren't. My only confort is that their army only is not enough to lay siege on Hell.''
Turning to Verin.
''Hold my right hand, and I will etherelize you to the other side. The danger you will have to face there, is your own. You must awake Nakir from her demonic slumber. And, I am afraid, I know no more than this. You will have to figure things out from there. But I will not leave you alone. I will go to Hell and distract Ereshkigal from her connection with Nakir, to give you time... and hope''.
Ezekiel then turned to serg.
''As for you serg, take my left hand. I will lead you outside. You must join Gean and Mordreth, and protect them with your brother. I have a feeling they still have to play an important roll in this scheme. And one more thing.''
Ezekiel gave the key of Heaven to Gean.
''You must secretly give this key to Gean. Let no one know. When the half-bred I called Metatron will come back, he will try to find me, to find it. I cannot therefore keep this with me. Be sure she understands that this key is what keeps the world from a disaster greater than anything that has been brought upon it so far.''
With those last instructions, he took both their hands and etherelized them outside of Heaven.
''Now go, friends, and do not fail me.''
He etherelized once again and went back to Heaven. There was one more thing he needed to do.
He approached the gates, where angels and half-breds bashed on the doors, without success.
And he spoke.
''Angels, half-bred, your fury is less needed as it is effective. You are not going anywhere, for the door in front of you is locked. Some times are made to act, some to think. This is of a proper time to think.''
He now hade the angels and half-breds attention.
''If you want me to oblige to my path of life, then so be it. It is true went and made a pact with some demons. It is true that I love a demon fairy. It is true that everything that was laid before me was a lie and a deception. But I have come to you know as a true eye, an eye who can see what you cannot, for anger blinds you. And hate. The one leading you does not have a different pair of eyes. But now, you do not need to content yourselves with these only. I will add my voice of love.''
He continued.
'' And I can tell you this, for I have never swore allegiance to the demon king. I despise him, and agree that he is the enemy of the world, along with his wife. They must be put to rest, definitely. But they have control over millions of demons, as this hald-bred have control over you, with eyes blinded by hate. You have always proclaimed yourself higher than demons. Then be! Stop anger from making its path to your hearts. Only then will you understand me.''
Again, with a breath, he continued.
''This man pretends that Death itself has reached Vatican. But he does not know the reason. He knows what he thinks. I have been closer to Death than any, and I myself do not know what he is planning, nor have the pretency to say I do. But he would not be with the cardinals at this moment, if the whole world was to crumble beneath them.''
Angels became less angered, and Ezekiel decided it was time to push to the end.
''There is a way to destroy Satan. But angels alone cannot win. Nor half-breds, nor demons. But together, united, as we were so long ago, there might be a way. I ask that you give me time, and trust. Never have I attacked an angel, never have I laid hand on your kind. Because you are just, and trustworthy. I ask for the same gifts that I gave you. Pray, and when the gates of Heaven will open, it will not be against an army of demons you will be marching, but with them.''
And so, with a last ethereal, he dissapeared and passed tthrough the walls of the kingdom. He said no words to Metatron, knowing that their friendship had truly ended. If they were to meet again, it was sure to be in battle, Ezekiel thought.
But one thing needed to be done in priority. As he flew, invisible, through many dangers, he arrived in Hell, in Ereshkigal's chamber, waiting for her.
