If your using Adobe Photoshop...this is what i do...for an outline...grids are usually features that can be downloaded.....try the resources thread in this section.
Make sure all your layers are flattened......(if not some layers could overlap the outline)...then
Select-All
Select-Modify-Border-set it to 2 or three
Color selected outline...with the color of your choice!
