Agreed, but Reed wins chess too.

Reed's a thinker, but chess is a one on one match that allows Bats an opportunity to get into his opponents head and mess around.

On that note... if cheating's allowed, Prof. X wins chess.

Batman is good, it's not a shame to loose to Reed Richards!

But chek there, in his respect thread, the fourth post:

Richards ownz Doctor Doom. I mean wtfpwn Doom!

Sups is a scientific. Batman is very intelligent, but he's mostly street smart.

Huh? So how come Batman is the one who developed the means to take down the entire JLA - and Ra's Al Ghul used it to defeat them in Mark Waid's Towel of Babel story arc?

How come Superman couldn't figure out that those were white martians they were fighting against in JLA #2 - and Batman did?

How come Batman is the brains of the JLA - and Superman, the brawn? When Prometheus was again walking all over the JLA, who took him down for the most part? Batman. Who figured out the puzzle in the Rock of Ages story arc? Batman.

Superman is number crunching smart. Batman is Sherlock Holmes level when it comes to detective/analytical skills.

I'm not sure Batman is smarter than Reed and Doom though.

No he doesn't.

The last chess match comes down to Professor X vs. Thanos, because Xavier beats everyone else by reading their minds, but it won't work on Thanos

What about Professor X?

How do you beat someone at chess who knows what you are planning/thinking?

Also, for the destruction of the city, I'm sure he could use cerebro to kill most humans. He could also mind-control the military from every county to fire nukes/missiles. I'm sure you guys can think of alot more ways for destruction with mind-control.

Just a thought...

Yes, my good friend, he does.

The smartest and wisest square-off

1st match: Chess
2nd match: Fastest time to destroy the entire population of a city
3rd match: Fastest time to collect IG gems
4th match: Highest grade in IQ test

Contenders:
Ras Al Ghul
Batman
Joker
Lex Luthor
Reed Richards
Professor X
Superman
Thanos

discounting Thanos, why no Doom?
Doom would win 1, 3 and draw with or beat Reed for 4.

1 - Reed/Batman (tough to say, Reed's nature may get in the way of things)

2 - definitely Superman, the others would need to gather resources, plan and construct. Superman would just look down at his feet and blast away with H-V to the core of the planet. job done.

3 - Batman/Professor X/Superman. Reed lacks inter-personal skills and an understanding of psychology. Superman is universally trusted, anyone would hand it over, and if they didn't he could probably grab it from them. Prof could mentally persuade them but he'd be stuck for the mind gem...

4 - Reed by a country mile.

Batman sure would give people quite the run at the first one. I believe the first one would be a stale though. Sure chess is a good game for great minds, but even if your mind is superior someone elses, does not mean that the other person can not match it at the limitations of the board. With the limitations of the pieces.

Reed pwns Batman at mechanics and so would Stark.

You know Reed collected the IG and the gems, he did it all in 1 comic too. He did it to try and will the IG to not exist anymore but it didn't work. The point is though, this is not beyond Reed

hmm, fair enough. my thinking was that he'd be rather crap at persuading people, doesn't have the charm of Tony Stark nor the psychological insights of Batman/Doom, nor the telepathy of Xavier.
