She constructed it on Ziost, without the help of Vader I think.

No idea.

Wasn't Vader occupied with Xizor at the time Lumiya was on Ziost?

Unless it was the first lightwhip ever in existence, that there's no reason to suspect that Vader wouldn't be remotely familiar with it.

It's quite an obscure weapon that few would tend to practise with; I'd say there needs to be proof that he was familiar with the weapon rather than proof that he wasn't, given how he apparently didn't train Lumiya in it.

Well he apparently knows all forms of combat, save for Vaapad, so that covers it. But to suggest that just because it MAY be unfamiliar to him, that he'd lose to Lumiya in a fight is kinda silly ( not that I'm accusing you nebs of thinking that way) but would you think Githany would beat someone like Bane simply because he doesn't know the full ins and outs of the weapon? I'm sorry just cause she beat Luke (who's only experience with a energy weapon EVER came in the form of a single lightsaber) when he was using a single saber is nowhere near enough proof that she'd beat Vader.

I'm with Styles on this. If Nelani can nearly beat Lumiya then Vader probably can. Although I do remember her getting hit by it, She did cut off alot of the 'tails' as I recall.

Check out the new TFU trailer, theres a brief cutscene which shows vader tooling star killer with the force.

Its more of Vader just throwing him with the force, but he did look hurt by it.

he basically is about to fight Xizor, and he has a weapon handed to him, but he doesn't know what it is: This should make a good case for Vader smearing Lumiya in all 3 areas of combat:

anyway, Vader should have trained some with a lightwhip if Jax did as part of his basic training. It is also described as an inferior weapon.
