It would have been my call back then. I don't remember outright banning them, but I also have a tendency to forget a lot of my mod actions. People have years-old grudges with me and I'll have no idea why, and it'll be because of some disciplinary thing from like 2007.
Legit question(s): what made you step down from your position as a Global? Was it having to constantly deal with the BS from every forum on the site, as opposed to just the comic book forums? Do you regret stepping down nowadays?
Also, are you and WD the only people who have willingly given up that position?

On the last question, I think so. Though WD gave up modding altogether.
I don't regret it, no. It's been annoying a couple times when I want to edit things or move stuff, but those are minor issues.
I only stepped down under the pretense that another would be promoted (Bada or Pr). That eventually happened, but not for a year or two, so I was a bit miffed at the time. It was definitely a hindrance to the forums for a period.
And more than anything, it was the sense of obligation. Despite my increasing apathy, I have too much boy scout in me. If I stayed a global, I was never going to break free of being on KMC too much. Now, I still post fairly regularly, but I also had a period of about 6 months where I disappeared. That was a good thing, and I wanted the freedom to do that without feeling like I was shirking my duty.
But not the BS specifically. That stuff actually bothered me the most when I first became a mod and then global, bc I wasn't used to it and let it get to me on occasion. Eventually you become immune to it...it's really decent training for dealing with unsavory situations irl.
When WD was a mod, he seemed pretty cool/fair by internet standards(I had several friendly PM-convos with him, in fact.) Then, after being demodded, he did a 180 and transformed into a huge troll. Almost seemed like his account got hacked, tbh. Very strange.
The forums really are a good way of preparing yourself for bothersome idiots irl. Obviously real life trolling/bashing is much different than webernet trolling/bashing, but ultimately the same emotions are still peaked on some level, and you do learn to control said emotions to a degree after repeated exposure to idiocy. In my line of work I deal with belligerent idiots almost every day, so I know exactly what you mean by becoming numb to it. 👆

Yeah, WD's change was weird. There was no sign of it when he was a mod, even privately.
You a teacher? That was, perhaps unfortunately, the first thing that came to mind when you said that.
