What's Your Fave Indie Band

Well To Be Honest, The Klaxon's Are By My Favourite...How About Yours?

not really liking the current wave of indie such as the courteeners, vampire weekend, pigeon detectives etc etc...they're all exceedingly gash...i would have to go with the dykeenies at the moment

I'm not good with what bands belong to whatever genre, so couldn't tell you the bands I like that fall into 'Indie'. I do like the Klaxons though, rather brilliant, and look forwards to the second album, anyone know when it's out?

The ones Jaden mentioned I don't like either, don't get the fuss about Vampire Weekend... have not heard of the other band you mentioned Jaden.

what are we classifying as independent? Bands that produce their own albums?

Deathbed repentance.

I'd answer, but the term "indie" seems to have a vague definition nowadays.

Indie used to mean on an independent label, but now it seems to be a by-word for shitty guitar bands, cant say i like any right now.

I have a handful.

The Strokes, The White Stripes, The Mars Volta, and Iron & Wine.

Klaxons are really neat too, getting into them.

I like iron and wine too and they're on sub pop, i think that makes them "indie"

How could I forget, The Dresden Dolls and Bright Eyes.

Mars Volta, and Iron & Wine are stunning, adore both.

As much as I'm against the umbrella term ''indie'' these days, it seems to have become a legitimate genre under which the British media groups a quite recognisably similar-ish collective of garage rock/post-punk/bluesy/electro-y guitar bands with trendy hair and skinny jeans, and I can safely say my favourite group within said media-spawned ''genre'' would be Cold War Kids. I just read back that paragraph and it made no sense. Apologies.

I heard one of their new songs a few days ago and it sounded so much like one of The Gossip songs(can't remember the track name, one of their big hits) that I stopped listening...

The Fratellis - Well their first album; it was pretty upbeat and seemed to want to move away from the formula of half-arsed guitar play and drone style vocals.
